Re: blobs on direction change
I don't think its steps/mm or multiplier because the center looks fine. I also don't think its extra extrude on restart as thats currently set negative and the problem is happening in a place where there should't be a retraction. I think it may be a problem with S3D as I can watch the extruder gear ...

Re: Rostock v1 Extruder constantly jamming
I have done a PID auto tune and played with temps quite a bit. I think i will try no fans and no retractions to see if that helps next
I have a couple rolls and they've all had the problem, but they are all from the same company. I'll see if I can get my hands on another company's filament to try

Re: blobs on direction change
The forum wont let me attach .fff I am using a 0.8 nozzle which is why the blobs are so extreme, but I see this a effect with a 0.4 nozzle as well My extra restart is -0.02, coasting is 0.05, and infill overlap is 15% S3D does not have any pressure advanced setting that I know of. Its strange ...

blobs on direction change
I'm using simplify3D and I've noticed that during solid infill when I change directions a large blob is made. I think this is a slicing issue because when it happens I watch the gear on the extruder jump forward. Anyone have an idea what this could be?

Rostock v1 Extruder constantly jamming
I feel like I've tried everything. I have a rostock V1 and I've always had issues printing with the extruder. I've spent so much time trying to upgrade it to get it to work but nothing seems to help. I am currently running a E3d V6 with volcano and 0.4mm nozzle, E3d Titan extruder set up as a flying ...

Re: mid print jamming rostock max v1
Well, I was adjusting a few things and accidentally broke my thermistor wires so temperature is definitely a problem now. I purchased a thread in thermistor. I update as soon as I get it up and running again.

Re: mid print jamming rostock max v1
Tried a fan on the MOSFET. No change. I took a video of the problem. I put some sharpie marks on the filament so it's easier to see the movement.

Re: mid print jamming rostock max v1
so I took a crack at identifying the problem and still came up empty. Here's what I did: Set extruder to 200C (I'm using PLA). Extruded filament through the tube fine. When it hit the hotend it extruded maybe 10mm and then started slipping and pushing back. I then retracted the filament. Pulled the ...

Re: mid print jamming rostock max v1
I'm running a 0.4mm nozzle. tried temps ranging from 180-250 (higher seems to be better). as for speeds, slower definately helps, but even at 20mm/s it'll jam up eventually.

Re: mid print jamming rostock max v1
Filament diameter is good.
No kickbacks without hotend. I can extrude the whole tube length fine, I only run into trouble when its going through the hotend.

Re: mid print jamming rostock max v1
Ive actually replaced the stepper once as well, I switched to a higher torque nema 17 because I thought that could've been the issue. I have a fan blowing on the extruder motor so it does not get hot (verified with the ol touch test) hotend temp is pretty stable. probably under +/- 2C I believe I ...

mid print jamming rostock max v1
Hey guys, my prints always jam after a bit of time (filament stops extruding and drive gear just starts grinding it). I have been through many upgrades trying to fix this and had no luck. I was wondering if anyone had other ideas. Below is a list of everything i've tried: steves extruder ...

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
my problem has nothing to do with motor heat. The EZ struder starts grinding pretty soon after the print starts and the motor is barely even warm

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
Tried a no retraction print. It failed even faster. I think the problem is coming from some sort of back pressure maybe? maybe in the hot end or the bowden tube?

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
3mm is right on the edge of what you can get away with on an E3D without it jamming, I'd certainly try disabling retraction and see if that resolves the issue. I usually run 2mm for PLA, but running a print with 0 will rule out an issue if it still happens. I assume you've tried different filament ...

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
Maybe it's retraction speed? Are your retracts too fast? I do about 20 mm/s for PLA, 90 for ABS. I'm somewhat out of ideas. If you can push it through by hand no problem (all the way through the bowden tube, right?), that eliminates a lot of the usual suspects. You said the stepper motor was cool ...

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
A few thoughts... Are you overretracting? Have you tried a test print with 0 retraction? Does this happen with more than one brand of PLA? Does this happen with ABS? When it jams, can you feed the filament by hand? Is your drive gear clean & free from debris? my current retraction is at 3mm. I will ...

Re: backpressure with e3d lite and ezstruder
After some more experimenting I'm beginning to think the issue is with the ezstruder. This problem has occurred with e3d lite, e3d lite with volcano, and now e3d v6 with volcano hot end and with 0.4mm and 0.8mm nozzles. I have reduced acceleration to 3250 for extrusion. my motor current (wantai ...

Re: e3d v6 lite and printing fast
So I got and installed the volcano heatblock. Unfortunately I am still having similar issues. It seems I am getting some back pressure in the hotend. It prints fine for a bit but on longer prints the drive gear starts chewing up my filament (I'm guessing this is due to back pressure). Eventually the ...

So after trying to recut the ptfe I am still having the same issues. on longer prints the drive gear starts getting all gummed up with filament bits. any other ideas?
