Hi all,

I just got my Rostock max v2, it even got here, Delft in the Netherlands, a day before estimated shipping delivery!! Assembled it in two days and right now i'm printing the PEEK fan shroud, it is looking great so far. No big trouble so far, only got confused when auto tuning the PID, it got too hot and I read on the forum that i should adjust the PID max from 255 to 128, but didn't know where. luckily I figured it out after an hour or so.

I'm studying Industrial Design at the TU Delft, just started my master Integrated product Design, which is great and it is the reason i'm interested in 3D printing. I'll be using the printer mostly for prototyping and actually manufacturing some of my own products. Studying at my faculty also gives me acces to a lot of awesome machinery like lathes and mills both manually driven and CNC, so in the future when time and money allows it i'll be happily making some nice mods and hope to share if they are successful.

I'm used to printing with an Ultimaker 2 since I can use them for free in my faculty, but it is very nice to get to know a great Delta printer like the Rostock. And i'm already amazed by the print quality. Especially the large print volume excite me a lot.

I already noticed that this forum will be of great help and inspiration and I hope to contribute to that.
When first looking around I didn't find any topics about a sound / temperature / air insulating housing for the whole printer, which I'm very interested in since the printer will be staying in my bedroom. I'm also interested in ways to get the heated bed heat up more quickly and a software tweak to get the LCD display to show the E.T.A or printing time remaining.
This could very well be explained by my lack of knowledge about how to navigate this forum, I hope to learn quickly.

Hello guys,

While looking around i couldn't really find a place to post fun upgrades to share, probably again due to my forum newbyness, so i'll post it here. If you know where i should actually post it tell me and i'll repost it in the right spot.

my first simple but to me very usefull upgrade, a new scroll button. It is great for scrolling fast to the right temperature or quickly through the menu.

And another printable upgrade, a filament spool holder with printed bearings:

(The bearing is downloaded from 3D hubs and scaled down to fit in a filament spool)
(The tubing is PVC from the hardware store, ø20mm connectors and ø18mm pipe)

Those bearing decent. How do they roll -ish?

Bearings roll great, ABS better than PLA. They keep spinning for a little while after you give them a spin. If they had some more mass i'll bet they wood keep spinning for quite some time. at least they are more than smooth enough for supporting the filament.
