Which CAD file

Post by RocketMagnet »

I'm looking at modifying the wooden plate that sits on top of the 3 metal standoffs at the hot end. Essentially I want to print out a test modified plate (clearances etc) before I commit to modifying or making up a new wooden plate.

I've been scouring through the CAD files and importing them into Freecad but for some reason I can't find the file for this item. I've tried opening all the likely named suspects but now I'm going round in circles. So is the file in there and if so what's it called please?

Cheers.

Have you looked at the GitHub located here: https://github.com/seemecnc/Orion_Delta/tree/master/CAD

Yeah that's exactly where I've been looking but what's the file name for that specific part?
I've gone through the process of guessing & cutting and pasting multiple iges files from there into a txt file then saving the txt file as .igs then importing it into freecad... Don't fancy doing that for every single file TBH
I've opened loads of them so far with the most promising file names but got sick of doing it tbh ;) if it's not there I'd rather not spend any more time... an image next to each would help loads ;)

When seemecnc is open, see if you can get someone to respond to the chat window on the home page and ask them.
I opened some of the the folders and there is a lot of files in there!
I know that someone at the Company can help you.
I think they open 9AM CST.

Thanks Eaglezsoar, I contacted them and JJ gave me the filename right away. Sure I'd opened that file but I lost track a bit.
Anyway it was an obvious filename "Hot End Adaptor" so no idea why I didn't open this one first..?

After looking over the CAD file it's different to the one on my Orion as the bit where you clip on the hot end wires etc with zip ties is in a different position.. right next to one of the offset screw/bolts. Whereas on mine it's equidistant between two of the bolts and screws.. also mine only has one hole in the centre for the 1 hot end.
Unlike Fig 20.31 on Page 257 of the manual which has multiple holes same as the cad file on Github.

My Hot End Adaptor
My Hot End Adaptor plate with zip tie connection equidistant
My Hot End Adaptor plate with zip tie connection equidistant
Hot End Adaptor on Github and in Max Manual
One in the max manual
One in the max manual
So has anyone got the CAD file for the Orion "Hot end adaptor" with the single hot end hole as in My hot end adaptor above?
As the wires are cut to exact lengths the position of the zip tie slot is pretty important...

I've spoken with SeeMeCNC online but they only have records of the one on Github.. they are looking into it however. My only thoughts are it's a new design that's not been uploaded to Github as the one on there now is >1 year old. There is a file in the IGES directory but it's not an IGES file labelled Hot End Adaptor.rpt for repetier 0.91?

So once again any help much appreciated.

Here's my CAD files.
87934 Hot End Adpater.zip
87934 Hot End Adapter RMAX and ORION 2014
(262.53 KiB) Downloaded 317 times
The 3 holes really don't matter. But I did position them for three hot ends. We like to say two hot ends quadruple the complexities of printing.

The pic in the manual is a Rostock MAX. It's rotated 120 from my design, but doesn't matter. It'll work fine like the picture, but I originally put the wire toward the right rear (as your facing the mahcine).

Thanks yeah I can see why the wire connection has been moved as it would interfere with the additional hot end holes.

I don't need the additional holes so it can be in the position it currently on my orion. My hot end wires wont reach if I move the position of the wire cable.. not keen on twisting the hot end round to compensate as it looks like it will cause issues. My intended test mod needs the wire connector to be in the middle not near a bolt.
Also has anything else different that's not obvious... e.g. bolt spacing's etc
Yeah I can fill in the holes and move the connection point as my mod will require it.. but the file exists somewhere already as it's on my machine so was wanting to save time in recreating the baseline item ;)

thanks for the files really helpful as it's got me a good start... i'll print it out as is and see what's it s like anyway.

The STL opens ok and so does the IGES. I've already modified the thing it took me less time than the post above and printing it out now ;P
My clip mount is simplistic but it will do the job for the test... just needs to be in the right position..
