Filament Humidity Question

Hello All! By putting together things I've read from various threads, I realized that a lot of my printing problems were likely due to moist filament. I purchased my Rostock with a 2 pound spool of ABS. In my excitement I opened it all up. It took me nearly a year to finish my Rostock, and that ...

Question about using Poplar as Build platform

Hi Everyone! Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere -- I'm going to be trying to print with some Taulman 618 soon. Went to the wood store and picked up the dimensionally closest Poplar board I could find to Taulman's 12" x 12" x 3/8" recommendation which ended up being 12" x 8.5" x 1/4". Not ideal ...

Re: Calibration dial box.

Hi Travelphotog! I've been absent on the forums for a bit, as the summer is when I'm out traveling solid for work. I just saw this post tonight and I was curious what specifically you are using your dial indicator for to calibrate the max? Is it mostly for getting the bed level? Also, how are you ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Hi Eaglezoar! I read through the thread you linked to and there are a couple of ideas on there that I will look in to. Here are a couple pictures of the print I did that I was referring to in my last post. It's fairly clean, but the crosshatching is sparse. Hence, when held up to the light I can see ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

So I was out in the shop printing a couple more parts today, and I'm experiencing one thing that I'm not quite sure how to fix when slicing. Prints are coming out looking pretty nice, but this nozzle is producing much smaller and more accurate lines. The single wall test printed perfectly at an ...

Re: Installed new E3D V5 Hot End - Having Problems!

I just installed a new E3D v5 as well, but the manual I had said it was an EPCOS...I still ended up tweaking a couple of small values in the TYPE 97 thermistor table (the EPCOS' specs were available commented in the thermistor table -- I also verified the commented specs were correct.) Where did you ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

@Eaglezoar - Thanks for the tip! Found it in the firmware, though it was a named slightly differently -- maybe a difference in the 0.91 firmware? In any case, I was able to change it successfully and finish the installation of the E3D Hotend. I'll have more info and pictures to come...but my first ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Actually ran into one last issue I could use a little help with. I'm trying to follow the instructions for the E3D installation...and it says I need to heat the hotend up to 300 degrees and tighten the nozzle. Repetier seems to be unwilling to let me set extruder temperature any higher than 247. I ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Time for another update! Replaced the heater cartridge with another that I had and this one seems to be working just fine, so it appears that the one that came with the E3D was probably a lemon. I went to autotune and ran into a small problem. I was encountering a "PID Autotune Failed - Temperature ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Quick update here: Got my new E3D all wired up and mounted with some steel spacers I found at the local hardware store. My Rostock Max kit had come with 1" spacers. I determined that a good spacing would be 1 3/4". So I grabbed 3/4" spacers from the hardware store. I also had to get longer screws ...

Re: Help Installing E3D v5 Bowden Hotend?

Thanks to both of you for the quick replies! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy and messing up the installation with some simple little thing. I'll check the local hardware store today to make sure they don't have what I want (I think I saw a spacer drawer one time). Failing that ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Hi Guys! I just wanted to keep this thread up to date in case it is useful for anyone else in the future. I got my E3D v5 Bowden hotend and the Trick Laser J-Mount head (with top plate for E3D Bowden). Brian from Trick Laser also included the J-Head top mount plate in case I ever decide to use a J ...

Help Installing E3D v5 Bowden Hotend?

Hello everyone! I've recently purchased an E3D v5 Bowden Hotend to replace the original SMCNC version that I accidentally bent. You can see my original thread here:http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4084 Anyway, I'm really just not quite sure how to mount this thing up! I've bought a J ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Got my Bowden E3D hotend from Filastruder today, which unfortunately is only being sold as a kit right now...so I'll be putting that together over the next day or so while waiting for the tricklaser mounting plate which is also on it's way. Hopefully it will work for the bowden. If not, I'll have to ...

Thanks to all who replied to my last post. I've gone ahead and put in an order for both the Bowden E3D and the TrickLaser mounting plate (I put that it was for the E3D in the purchase notes as instructed). As much as this setback is a bummer, I'm looking forward to trying out a new hotend ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Well, I've done it again... :( Today I spent some time in the shop working with the Rostock. I checked the towers again with a machinist's square (as best I could without disassembling stuff) and they looked very true. I installed the new Repetier firmware that John posted a few days back, and I re ...

Re: Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Did some more tests today...this time with kisslicer. I turned the print speed way down to 30mm. Also, I opened up CAD software and created a test cube myself to make sure there was nothing wrong with the model. Same problems as before. Any prints where I set an extrusion width less than around ...

Printing properly dimensioned parts?

Hello everyone! I've been back online doing more test prints after the guys at SeeMeCNC replaced my RAMBO over the holidays (truly the best customer service!). Hi Eaglezsoar, Thanks for all your help and advice! I will test the other two thermistor ports on the RAMBO tonight. I am running Repetier .80 I think...whatever the latest version off of the SeeMeCnc website is. Hope ...

Re: Help! My Rostock Suddenly Stopped Working!

Hi guys! Thanks for your quick replies! Eaglezsoar, I do have a multimeter to test. What resistance am I looking for at room temp? Gene, I can test the wiring, but am I looking for a certain value? I went through and sort of played with the wiring to see if anything was shorted and would come back ...
