I found this plugin to export STL files from Sketchup useful. Just drop it in the plugins folder and an extra option appears in the Tools menu to export DXF or STL. The STL files I have exported worked fine with skeinforge.

Re: Sketchup STL export plugin
This is the plugin I use. I struggled with it on some of my drawings because I use inches when I make my models. Be sure to convert to Millimeters before exporting to avoid exporting an STL file that will contain a microscopic model. You can tell you did this when your gcode files are small (4k to 15k or so) and the prints look like 1/4" blobs or curly Q's.
Even if you export in inches this will happen. You could rescale it in Slic3r, but the fix is simple enough in SU.

I'm happy that it helps someone.
I have made an OpenSCAD version, it is easily changed for others sizes. Sketchup is not intuitive when you need it.
