New 3D Printer owner and it's a Rostock Max V2!

Post by Fiddler2070 »

Hi guys. This is a great forum with a lot of info. It was because of you guys that I bought a Rostock Max V2.

I got it built with only a rewiring of a connector for the peek fan required because of the crimping. Otherwise it works great. I even designed and printed a spindle spool holder for the Rostock. I didn't like the way the spool jerked on the rectangular spool holder.

I have a question though. I calibrated the Max to 0.038mm bed height which is about 1/3 the thickness of a piece of paper. I had to increase the calibration height to only 1/3 less than paper thickness. Is anyone having problems printing 0.2 layer height using the 0.5mm nozzle? Is that supposed to be used with the 0.35 nozzle? I can't seem to get consistent results with 0.2 layer but have no problems with 0.3 layer height with the standard nozzle.

The rostock is an incredible machine and cool to watch it build stuff with all three arms moving in different directions.

Also how fast do you guys print? Anybody willing to share settings for 0.2 layer height using whatever nozzle and 0.3 layer height? I'm too afraid to have it go beyond 30mm/s with 20mm/s first layer. What speed do you experience guys print at? (with specs of layer height, nozzle size, type of filament, etc.)

That PEI sheet is the best printing surface. No hair spray, no glue, no tape, nothing. Just print....lol

Thanks and I look forward to learning more from you guys.
