extruding issues

hello,
So i just purchased a orion delta and am trying to print my first print and I am running into issues with the extruder not pumping out materials I get a small dab of plastic once it has stopped so I know its fed right. I am currently using cura and I have the retraction speed set at 80mm/s i've taken it as low as 40 but still nothing. Any ideas (I did buy this 2nd hand and the nozzle is clean)

Also the gear is covered in neon green dust (the color of the filament) is this normal?

First thing to do is bring the nozzle up to temperature and feed the filament by hand through the Bowden tube.

What can commonly happen with PLA, is it jams, and the increased back pressure causes the extruder to eat the filament, this coats the teeth of the extruder and files a nice flat on the he filament which will then no longer feed.

Assuming you can feed by hand with reasonable force, the next step is to look at the extruder, and get it extruding into thin air, then move onto printing.

I can feed by hand I tried it out later with different filament and that worked just fine but the neon green filament will not load

If it's filament specific, it's probably a temperature issue, PLA can vary in printable temperature from 165C to as high as 230C, depends on the source and on the pigment. You can also get shitty filament that is borderline unprintable.

yeah i think its just bad filament I tried feeding it into my printrbot also with the same results I cant be too mad It all came in a bundle off of craigslist
