"Burnt smell from Melemie"

Post by AlanT »

What is everyone doing to seal the edges of the lasercut melamine parts. I've tried clear nail polish but still getting some smell. Suggestions, the wife thinks the house is burning down so I want to eliminate the odor if possible. ;)

I used several coats of black enamel paint. My wife got so annoyed with the enamel smell she never even mentioned the burnt wood smell. :D

I'm like you, I enjoyed the smell. The new printer smell beats the new car smell anyday.

I did use a washcloth, it didn't get rid of the smell; I like the smell, though, so I don't mind. The washcloth is still a good idea because there are loose particles of dust along the edges and they can leave black lines on your hands.

I spray painted mine white. Since the guys at SeeMe were nice enough to mask the parts for us, I figured I would take advantage. :D My white edges have zero smell :)

It's one of those man smells like lighter fluid. If you don't like it on your printer, you could rub it off with your hands and take it with you :)
