Airfoils and magazines.

Post by Durandal »

Along with a hollow calibration pyramid I printed these out yesterday. The airfoil is from a project at work where I work with a big 5MW laser based metal 3d Printer, and yes the warping along the Z is intentional, that actually took me a while to figure out how to design. Slicer's infil screwed up the interior surface of the part, so I'll probably reprint them before I return to work.

The other one is a DEFCAD AR 15 magazine, again slicer messed up the interior surface so I killed it at around 20 mm high. I'm currently reprinting that with a tool path from Cura 13.06 and Steam Engine and it seems to be going much better. I think I'll retry the airfoil with Cura data too.

Much better, sliced with Cura and Steam Engine. Feed lips still cracked when I tried to load it up, but I think that was a result of printing at too low of a temperature, the next one is going up at 230C. If that fails I will begin treating the feed lips with acetone to try to eliminate de-lamination.
