E3d install Questions/Help

Post by deadpool66 »

Hello all!

I have a few questions regarding the new e3d v6 thermistor and bowden setup.

First up the new cartridge thermistor e3d includes does this require different values than what listed on the matthackers guide?

Second how do you remove the bowden tube when you want to switch rolls

third what would be good retract settings to use.

Thanks is advance Im excited to get this rolling the e3d v6 was a vast improvement on my prusa hopping for similar results.

So, it should be a sensor type 8 for the cartridge, this lines up between E3D's doc's, repetier's docs for the sensor, and matterhackers. Secondly, if you want to remove the bowden tube, you can push down on the connector on either the hotend or the extruder, however in almost no case do you need to remove the bowden tube to change plastic, as you can press the red release button, and pull on the filament once you're at temperature. Thirdly, 1-2 mm of retract at 10-20mm/s is a usual starting point. Different filaments will want different settings. If you're using something on your Prusa retraction wise, it should work fine for the Max, when they both have the same hotend.

You'll have to re-upload the firmware via the Arduino IDE or similar.
