hi all. having various problems.
i have installed the rambo driver and it doesnt do anything.
i have the matter control and that will not connect to the printer.
the printer is on a port as i have installed driver wear etc.
repetier allows me to connect but lists no start sign, force start
also on my devices page it just lists one device (printer) no rambo ? is this correct ?
thanks

Hello, sounds like we need to start form the beginning! How long have you had the V1? Was it working properly at some point and now not working?

Next, what operating system are you using on your computer that needs the driver (it makes a difference)?

Next, it might not be the driver but simply the communications configuration in MatterControl to talk to the RAMBo - baud rate primarily.

I'm primarily a Macintosh guy but I do have a windows 10 laptop I can use to check.

Did you see it working? It could be as simple as communication config.

Ok, lets start with Repetier Host as I am most familiar with it.

Under the Printer menu, choose Printer Configuration and either screen shot or reply with he Communication parameters listed there.

It seems you have a really old version of Marlin or something. This seems likely since it is a V1 and they shipped those with Marlin at the time. You'll have to upgrade the firmware to a newer version of Repetier most likely. Can you post some pictures of the machine so we can see if there are any mods that might need to be accounted for in the firmware config?

Nylocke, seriously, Marlin? I have a pretty early V1 and it had Repetier. First I've heard of Marlin!

The only V1 I ever laid hands on had Marlin. It had marlin until I upgraded it this summer to .92 repetier. It worked pretty well actually, not jittery like 2014-2015 marlin.

I'm thinking its that because the printer isn't communicating firmware version or following standard port opening protocol with newer versions of repetier. I might be mistaken though.

Ok, so first up is we need to see if we can get Repetier to connect. Is COM14 the port that shows up in the windows device manager? If not, change that and attempt to connect first - you do have to click the Connect button at the upper left of the Repetier screen. Hopefully you know that

Try it and let us know how it goes then we'll go from there.

Ok, I checked with John and he thinks that maybe early early early on there were a few Maxes that had Marlin. He didn't say if these were sold. It would be odd that one would make it to the UK!

The one I got back in 2013 to work on at work had Marlin on it. It was in the manual that Gene made. I guess I assumed everyone used the same manual. Both rev 1 and 2 I think were like this. It has been a while since I've looked.

If that's the case mcdarren23, then RUN and install Repetier! That will also help with the connection debugging since you'll have to setup the connection in Arduino to upload the new firmware.

We'll have to track down a version for you to use though. The early Maxes had 16 tooth as opposed to 20 tooth pulleys. Mine has the 16 tooth pulleys but i don't run RAMBo any longer.

An acrylic machines tells me "IndieGoGo" machine. He's probably got the custom cut 15 tooth gears on it too.

I'm not sure why we think he has an acrylic machine or even Marlin? I don't see anything in the OP that indicates this and he screenshots aren't definitive since he hasn't been able to connect yet. Just asking...

There was a brief period of time outside the IndieGoGo that they were selling the acrylic machines and it was the very first machine I had.
Still have pieces of it around somewhere. I do remember the 15 tooth cog and it is best to count the number of teeth on the cog several
times to make sure how many teeth the user's machine has. The old acrylic machine basically "cracked up" which I think it got from me.

He started with a thread in the V1 forum that did not get a lot of attention
