Builder in Brooklyn

Post by bradjshannon »

Greetings, everyone! My name's Brad. I've been lurking here for a couple months in preparation for my first build: a Rostock MAX METAL.

I'm very new to the world of 3D printing and the like. At my previous employer I inherited a broken Solidoodle 2 Pro, which I've been modding and playing with for 6 months or so. After getting fed up with its limitations, and finding myself with a surprising amount of free time, I decided to start a delta build. I'll post a build thread soon.

Aside from some time spent with that printer, I have a background in pro tech & troubleshooting -- computers, audio/video production, studio engineering. Before I discovered 3D printing, I had just begun playing with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. I have some experience with basic 3D modeling in SketchUp. I've recently spent a bunch of time learning OpenSCAD design, and will soon dive into Blender and the like.

Anyways, I'm excited to be here and contribute as a builder. If there's anyone else here in the NYC area, I'm always looking to meet people with similar interests.

He's clearly on his way to a cereal building career.

Welcome Brad!

Good work keeping the Solidoodle moving.. I'm sure it's been a learning process and much experience gained.

Hi Brad and welcome to the Forum!
Don't pay attention to all of the comments about Cartesian printers, we all had to start somewhere.
We are primarily a delta printer board, specifically the printers sold by SeeMeCNC.com and I urge you to
take a look at the offerings on their website and when you can afford it, these are what we recommend.
In the meantime we would be glad to accept your comments, pictures and answers for our users where you can.
Happy printing!
