Hi from Pennsylvania

Post by Sheaffer »

Hey Everyone,

I'm brand new here and just starting what I hope to be a great new hobby! Just purchased the Rostock Max v2 from Amazon and it should arrive in time to start building next weekend. I have played with a bunch of different stuff over many years including mini lathes, large scale amateur rocketry, small electronics projects and whatever else seemed interesting at the time.

I have to say that I am really excited about building and using the Max. For Christmas my wife bought me a "Micro 3D" (M3D) printer which was WAY overpriced for what was essentially a toy. After spending tons of time trying to calibrate it and having models constantly separate from the unheated bed, I was about to give up on 3D printing, but decided I would do some research.

After reading a bunch of reviews, checking out the user groups and reading the Max build and user manuals, I decided I would give it another go. So I returned the M3D that and bought the Max.

I look forward to getting to know you all and thank you in advance for helping with the ton of questions I am sure to have.

Hi Sheaffer and welcome to our Forum!
First I want to thank you for getting rid of the toy you had and for buying the Rostock Max V2 from SeeMeCNC.
The difference between the Toy you had and the Rostock is that the Rostock Max has a huge build volume and
you just joined a Forum who cares about your purchase and if you are determined not to fail we are just as
determined to help you. Instead of pulling your hair out and throwing things at the cat, you can now just ask
your questions here and someone will help you out. You and the cat benefit! :)
Have yourself a good time building the kit and don't be in a rush. Enjoy the process. The latest edtition of the manual is
located here: http://download.seemecnc.com/rostockmax ... dition.pdf

Be sure to follow the text and use the pictures as a guide, do not try to build from the pictures and not read the text.
Happy building and always come here with your questions before frustrations take over.

Thanks, Eaglezsoar. While we are not cat people, given the number of references in both the forums and guides, perhaps one of the first things we will have to design and print is some cat armor :D

Yeah, we use the cat reference a lot but it really means anything that you can take your frustrations out on. I have had a cat all my life, they are not that trainable but it is nice to have a cat laying on your lap and purring.
It's a good stress reliever and I love all of God's animals.

Agreed...we are dog people. We have two English Bulldogs -- they are dumb as a bucket of nails, but we love 'em anyway.
