Boogers!

Post by jsnbrgg »

Hello,

Printing with ABS I keep getting these little boogers that take forever to clean off. Otherwise really nice prints. I've tried raising my temp from 225 to 235 and didn't help. I'm using the rostock recommend profile setting downloaded from the website. The retract is 6.5 at 110mms. I'm gonna try raising the retraction some but that already seems like a lot.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
J.

Forgot to mention that I'm using MatterControl.

Thanks,

Two ideas come to mind. First I'd try lowering your flow rate, since your problem might be from overextruding. Second I'd try using a different slicer and comparing the output.

Yep, definitely check your extruder calibration. Shy of doing the actual calibration, you could lower your extrusion rate by a few % and reprint to see if it helps. Just don't forget to do the real cal and to put your multiplier back up to 100% before you forget about it.

Please post your fix. I am having similar issues. Some have suggested bad filament with voids. I have noticed it lessens if I print at a lower temp but will not go away completely.

I basically followed the procedure in this video. Ended up with an extrusion multiplier of .88

You can also use the same multiplier and apply it to the steps per mm for the extruder in the firmware.

I'd be curious to compare the difference between the extrusion width test and the linear measurement test... I wonder how close they are to each other? Probably depends on the exact filament diameter.
