Tip crashing into the glass bed: CAUSE

Post by Bismarck83 »

I have been talking to SeeMeCNC tech support, great people by the way, and found the HOW but not the WHY when the tip crashes into the bed when homing the Z or printing in general. I noticed this a few times when I tried homing and printing. (happens to me once out of 5 tries)

I found that the orion Rambo motherboard when homing in will ADD the numbers instead of deleting the old configuration. Causing your next print to crash the tip right into the glass.

I found a temp fix for this if anyone has this issue. home it first, do all the little paper tests making sure the tip is as close to the bed while allowing the paper between the bed and tip to slide freely with very little struggle. (the option for this is under advanced options)

Next home the Z there, once finished and you hit the nob to configure the Z go BACK into the option and check your numbers. IF it says 0 (as it should) Then rise the printer head. GO BACK into the options to home your machine and see what number it is on now..if it says something along the lines of 235 or so..it should be ok to print...if it says 450-600..yea you need to rehome it once more because it will crash into the bed again.

Another way

go into your EEProm settings in your matter control. look under Z MAX LENGTH [MM] if the print head is all the way at the top, it will say 235.875 (at least what mine says)
if its a number ungodly high, say around 300-600. you need to RE-home your printer again by punching in the numbers above (FOR THE ORION SEEmeCNC Printer) Or if you know your Z max length punch it in and save to EEPROM

Hope this helps. If you have any questions post here and ill try to answer it or make it more simplified =D
