New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
This is a great new beta release. You can get the Mac and Windows versions now, Linux soon:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3evahzu5gfel ... FeGZa?dl=0
This version also has my feature request of independent suck/prime speeds.
This is Jonathan's release note:
This is a semi-big deal because this is my candidate for the beta 2 release! Please pound on it, find bugs, do your magic, etc. If no huge bugs are found then I will post this to the website, superseding the 1.5 beta 1.
Lots of new things in this build (relative to the 2.10 build), including:
* removed some duplicate motion points during wipe (wasting G-code)
* seam indicator works with rotated objects
* island sort goes from nominal seam location to the opposite side
* path order optimization is much improved
* added reference setting profiles (and a quick restore of those)
* build & cost info change when the settings change
* you can now stack multiples of a model vertically (under the right-click mesh transform pop-up menu)
* packer works on round beds now (sorry about this bug!)
* fixed a possible race condition when OpenGL tried to draw a mesh while the code was updating it (on load or on mesh transforms)
* Moved Extruder Mapping to its own tab for easier updates (and easier to remember!)
* Added a License pop-up.
* Z-gap also lifts the model above the raft (if the raft and Z-gap are enabled)
* Z-gap and raft spacing now update without a reslice (they are shown *below* the bed sop the paths will still align with the mesh)
* Fixed a bug where a new extruder would not start with a prime
* Added the Extruder Order optimization mode: Most recent (faster prints, is the default) and Fixed Order (always 1,2,3,4 per layer, slower but more even heating)

Re: New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
Where would a good location be to request support for this version of KISS? I just downloaded the 64bit version and it displayed a dialog box that 4 .ini files are not present. Then locked my system and forced an automatic reboot.
Looks odd that a 64bit program is calling a dll in the Systems32, but I have no clue.
I'm going to try the 32bit version real quick and see what happens.
This is what the event viewer shows.

It is normal that you'd get that message if you don't have a preexisting set of ini files. It shouldn't lock up though! So go to the Beta release talk thread http://www.kisslicertalk.com/viewforum.php?f=6 and let Jonathan know.

By the way, I posted a set of updated INI files here a couple of days ago. You could grab those if you need them.

App crash on the 32bit as-well. Could be something with my system, but I've never had a problem with anything else.
Full crash report attached for the 32bit.

Roger that will do.
Edit: basically sent the same info on that website. I tried version 1.4.5.10 Sep 2 2014 and it works just fine.
Re: New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
It worked by using your supplied ini files on the other post. Something must be screwy with file creation or permissions when KISS tried to create the default files internally.
Re: New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
I saw you posted on the KISS forum so thanks! Jonathan will be on it, it shouldn't crash when the inis are missing. It doesn't on the mac.

I should have read the KISS forum first this morning. Jonathan has already found fixed and posted new betas for the INI crash.

Loving KISS and the new betas are nice. Printed the ol gear bearing last night and it came out flawlessly. KISS and your guide have made the real difference.
Re: New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
Glad it's working as well for you as me! I've been a KISS advocate since I first discovered it. There is just something about the way its gcode prints. This new version has some great enhancements and gcode tuning. He fixed an issue for me that has been my #1 gripe for 2 years that had to do with path generation on shell fills on curves. He nailed it with a beta a few weeks ago and it is working awesome now. I can look at the surface of a print and tell you which slicer created it: old KISS, new KISS, Slic3r, Cura or "that slicer which must not be named". I think I've spent too much time looking at parts and gcode!
BTW, aren't you supposed to be writing a paper for your English class - or at least IN class?
cheers,
Michael

I still have my "half license" for that one slicer *shudders*. Never was able to get anything better than Cura..
Uhhh... I am in class
and I don't have English for another 2 hours

Re: New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
Everything is working great now, thanks!
Should I start with a fresh .ini install and figure it out or use yours with a mostly stock v2 with a E3D V6?

Re: New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
It's usually easier to start with one that is in the ballpark. Mine should be good for your configuration.

Re: New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
What settings are you using for seam hiding? The default ones I'm getting pretty noticeable seams. Ive been tinkering a bit and its been getting better, but its not the greatest still. You mentioned something about your special build with its special features, do those pretty much solve all the seam problems for you? It looks like its trying too hard to hide the seam (its not sticking out, its more of an indent) so I've been lowering both of the values, trying to get it to look better.
Re: New KISS 1.5 beta 2.15..
All of the special features are in the current beta so you should have everything. It didn't really affect seam hiding.
On the Style tab I have:
Depth = .9
Seam Hiding Gap = 1.0
De-string is checked
Use Corners is checked
Wipe is not checked
Jitter angle is 45° typically but I'll go higher for rectangular pars
On the Matl tab:
prime: 1.5mm
suck 1.5 mm
vP 45 mm/s
vS 20 mm/s
min Jump 1.0 mm
trigger 5 mm
Z-lift .2 mm
I also slow WAAAAYYY down for perimeters. You can taylor this in Printer-Speed.
I have perimeter about 10% of the loops value. It slows way down to make that last perimeter. I usually print loops from inside to perimeter too. I get better seam hiding that way and by slowing down, I don't seem to have issues with accuracy.

Thanks for the info and advice and files. I will see if I can set this up this weekend.
