Good news everyone!! (said like Professor Farnsworth)

I bought my first 3D printer after being fascinated with them for over 2 years now! The Rostock Max v2 kit seemd like the perfect kit for me... SO I BOUGHT ONE! :lol:

SO here is what I bought:

Rostock Max v2 kit (with height mod, will have 30" build height)

I would love to see some pictures after the paint job. Cobalt blue sounds great.
Painting the pillars does not sound like a good idea. You would need etching primer to get a good bond to the aluminum.
Best to have them anodized rather than painted.

Also, being a computer enthusiast I know the importance of a good power supply, and a really good deal popped up so I bought an "XFX TS Series P1-550G-TS3X 550W PSU 80+ Gold" free shipping and only $40 after MIR. (at tigerdirect.com) It's not modular, but it has all flat cables that are black, so it will still likely help improve air flow and cable clutter a little.

Listen to Eagle, the paint on the Aluminum is an idea you will regret, even if it says its made for metal and you use primer. The surface is going to have the skates running up and down it and I guarantee if not right away some time in the near future that stuff will start flaking off and it will be a mess.

If you really want color on the beams, mask off where the rollers roll and paint the rest.
Never do anything you don't want to have to explain to the paramedics.

No nylon nuts in the box for the feet makes me sad :( but, a quick trip to the hardware store fixed that!

belts ran, more work tomorrow!

Well I got it built... but the y axis motor doesn't move. :(
I checked to make sure it was plugged in right, as well as the other way (just on the off chance it was wired back words...a guy can hope right!) but nothing.

the cold end motor doesnt seem to move either. I checked to make sure the wires were right and they are.
I even tried plugging it in to the Y axis and telling it to go to home and still no movement.

also in MatterControl my hot end is reporting 366c... what could cause that?

I see your build is another one of those tight space builds.


Try connecting the motors that do not move to the outputs that do create movement. That way you can diagnose if it is a rambo problem or motor+wire problem.

Thanks for the idea. They work , it must be a controller issue. I do remember the andrino software said something about low memory after I uploaded the firmware, and that it might cause glitches.

Try flashing the rambo again. I do not recall it complaining about memory.

Change your EEPROM clear from 512 to 4096 then run it, the memory is larger in this board than what that one is written for.

just tried that, and it didn't help. :(

I did notice that the low memory message appears even when verifying the firmware's code.

I got the same message with mine the other day when building it. So far it runs fine, but I haven't run a large file yet. Also, did you try hooking a multimeter to the board when you try and run the failing motors?

It's got nothing to do with the EEPROM clear size. The warning can be ignored.

as for the low memory...
"I just spoke with John our resident Firmware GURU about the Low Memory notice is nothing to be concerned with. It is a notice that 70% or more of the memory has been used and is new to the 1.0.6 version of Ardunio that was recently released (which is why it is not mentioned in the manual)"

I sent a response on Monday to there email, so its been 2 full working days without a response which is a little out of character to the with in 24 hours during the work week I have had to this point.

They got back to me on Friday and had me test/look at some stuff.

I ran the clear eeprom, re-downloaded the firmware, made the motor change to "{155,155,155,165,0}" just like last time, and no change. (the Y axis still doesn't move when plugged in to the Y axis port.) the pins also look fine.

I plugged the Y motor into the second Z axis to see if all 3 would move and all three do indeed move, so it seems to me the Y port is the issue.

FrznTek, from the troubleshooting you have done, I must agree that the Y port on the Rambo is defective.
If not under warranty, you can send it to the manufacturer for repair.
I would pull out the Rambo and carefully inspect the circuitry for the Y axis port to make sure there is not a solder blob or
a break in one of the traces, however I doubt that you will find the problem. When you experience a loss of a port it is
usually one of the electronic components that fail.
Please let us know how you resolve this problem.

When I did my research on 3D printers to figure out what one I wanted to buy. SeemeCNC seemed that they had good customer service, of which was one of the determining factors in my choice. My initial e-mails seem to back that, which made me feel comfortable spending the just over $1200 with shipping that I did with them. However it is had to look past the fact that as soon as I had a real issue that requires an RMA of the RAMBO controller, it took a full work week to get a response. I gave them the benefit of doubt saying to my self, maybe their busy. then after a couple more days I thought maybe there's bad weather and they can't get to the shop. Finally after me sending the response to them on a Monday afternoon and a "whats the next step" on Wednesday, late Friday I got a response to check some stuff. I then went and checked it all out and responded that night. That brings us to Monday March 30, when I received this...

"Something indeed sounds funny with your RAMBO board. I am going to have our shipping department send you an RMA label so that I can get that RAMBO board back and test it out and get you a new board. The label should be emailed to you by the end of the business day tomorrow."

On Friday April 3ed I got an automated message...

"Our agent Zendesk has tried to contact you about this support request but we haven't heard back from you yet. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. This ticket has been closed. If you need to, you can reply to this ticket to re-open it, or visit our support desk on our website at http://www.seemecnc.zendesk.com and create a new ticket."

so I sent a simple response saying that I still haven't received the RMA label.

It is now Monday April 6th after the normal work day, and I have still yet to receive an RMA label...

I can't help but not feel like I am at all a priority to them.

I guess I'll give them a call tomorrow and try to see just what the heck is going on.

They have chat on line, email support, and a posted phone number. They are a small Company that really do care about the user
but because they are so busy users like you sometimes feel like they are being ignored. Do what you have to do so that you are
not forgotten and I guarantee that they will fix your problem.
