You are correct. There are chairs without a back that I should check into. I think I saw them on Amazon. Thanks for making me feel a little less sorry for myself.

:( I sympathize with you.

Don't go for good! Maybe as a community we can chip in to buy/design/print/donate equipment that allows you to work on the computer more comfortably.

You were the first person to great me when I made my initail postings, when I was deciding what printer to get. The fact that there is an active forum with people ready to spend time to answer my dumb [and not so dumb] questions is what sold me on this printer over any other.

Keep in mind that voice to text stuff is much improved from it's infancy. I use voice to text on my phone all the time to let it type out messages for me, it is way faster than typing on that little screen. On the big PC, I can type faster than I talk, but there are plenty of voice to text that work on PC's.

Don't go - just take it easy.

The voice to text is another thing that I have not thought of and I will check it out.
Thanks for the idea.

You could try these. I have a pair I bought on eBay a few years ago and to be honest, my pair is terrible - but they DO work to a degree. It's just that it seems like there's a "sweet spot" that you have to work in, otherwise it's hard to focus on things. Maybe you could find a better supplier for a higher quality pair?

I'm glad to see you're sticking around. :D

I do have a suggestion for you - take a road trip to Colorado and get yourself a joint. See if that helps.

It is going to be voted on in Ohio, if it passes I will definitely try the joint idea.
Thanks for caring enough to answer.

Not a bad idea but I cannot lay flat on my back. Maybe looking at the world sideways would improve things! Thanks for the idea.

Eagleszoar, I was sad to hear you were leaving but glad to hear you've changed your mind after reading the posts from your fellow forum members. I haven't been very active with my printer in the last 9 months or so, but you were the first to welcome me to the forum and I'll never forget that! At times I tried to welcome new folks but then realized, "Carl will send them a nicer note that I could :-D".

Anyway, I hope and pray you get some relief for your back.

Very happy to you hear you are staying.

What position are you comfortable in?

On the backless chair frontier, some people use a big pilates ball. As you have to sit straight, if you do not you slide off it.

I have a projector for which i cannot use in my new small living room. I was planning on putting it in the bedroom projecting to the ceiling. In fact i designed parts and i started printing them but then my printer started acting up. Anyhow, i usually sleep face down or sideways. I was thinking of installing mirrors on the side of the bed so that i can use those to look up. However I still have not figured out a way to use the keyboard while laying sideways. I can type 10 fingers and my wireless keyboard balances nicely on my gut but sideways it is slightly more challenging.
When on mobile I am brief and may be perceived as an arsl.

Waves of emotion mate!

I was saddened and shocked when you said you were leaving. You really are one of the reasons I joined the forum and fell in love with the community and then ultimately decided to offer the Rostock as our first machine to sell in Australia. Yes really.

Very glad you changed your mind, take all the time you need, get sorted and come back at a pace you can sustain. We'd all be glad for a short visit from Eagle rather than no visit at all.

- Isaac
I loved my Rostock so much I now sell them in Oz :)

From vote to implementation can be a very long time. If I didn't think I'd get hammered into the dirt for it, I'd buy you one and mail it to you. (Washington State: The leader in people legally going, "Woah dude. That was pretty rad!") :D

Thanks for the offer, but I can wait for OH to get it's act together. I do not want you hammered into the dirt, you are my favorite person to harass.

I swear I was going to suggest the same thing, but I didn't know if it would fly here. Weed de-emphasizes some pain, and nausea? Off like a light switch. It's unbelievable. There are people who have moved to different states because they have AIDS or cancer or something like that, and they don't want to rely on highly addictive opiates (oxycontin, etc.) for something weed can do. You do have to wait a lot longer before operating heavy machinery (cars) than you would with alcohol. It can stay with you for a bit.

I just joined this forum, but I can already see two things.

1. This is probably another place I'll be spending way too much time. It's go "Hotel California Syndrome" written all over it.
2. Eagles is a foundation stone of this forum.

I feel for you my friend as I have issues from "repaired" carpal tunnel syndrome, three vertebra with compression fractures (and shattered processes) and psoriatic arthritis.
I'm 48 now and have had the broken back since I was 29.
I tried the pills, the patches, even had a couple of treatments to burn out certain nerves.. None of that worked.
I learned to do some stretching, work on keeping the limbs moving, learn new ways to do things and I've really had to watch my weight.
So I know what you mean about not being able to sit at a pc as much as I'd like. I also can't do physical work at the same levels as before, so something that used to be simple (like doing an oil change on a motorcycle), now has to be done on a worktable at chest height.

To keep computing I got a convertible laptop, a usb trackball mouse and a lapdesk with cooler, that handles 90% of what I use a computer for.
It will run my Engine tuning software(s), surf the web, run office, mattercontrol, blender and more.
The only time I still have to sit at a desk and use a workstation, I have a kneeling chair with office casters.
I'm actually faster "paddling" this chair across the floor than a "normal" office chair.

I like its center spine as opposed to the designs with the big outside frame, because that keeps it narrow so I can slide it in between things better.

I just thought of this, if you can't take weight on the back while sitting and you can't take the pressure laying down, how does message chair feel?
You lay forward putting your weight on your thorax and abdomen, loading the spine.
most have a head support you could alter to just be a chin pad and adding a keyboard/mouse tray to the armrest would not be that hard.
You can pick one up on ebay for a $150 or so, so its not a $500 experiment.

John2907, thank you for such a well written message.
We have many things in common, especially the problems with the back. I also have had the treatments to burn the nerves (radio frequency ablation)
and none of it worked.
You mentioned a couple of chairs that I have never heard of and you can bet that I will be checking them out as soon as I am finished with the Forum
today.
Your comments really hit a nerve because you are experiencing a lot of what I experience and I now realize that I am not the only one suffering from
back problems. I do not like taking the Oxycontin or Morphine Sulphate pills but it is the only thing that can provide some sort of relief.
I am saving your message because it helps me when I read it. The laptop is not a problem but I guarantee that I will find one of those chairs within
a few days. Thank you so much. :)

Egads, I can't believe I was this out of touch with the goings on in the forum. I am continuously impressed with your willingness and ability to learn, helpful nature, optimism, and of course your humor (I for one love it). I am ecstatic you'll still be around in whatever capacity. I have only an inkling of the issues with such a critical part as your back, I'm only 30 and many years of martial arts and the subsequent limitation's in time due to 'real life' caught up to me in a new way, the musculature of my back. Relative to other issues it's quite simple and manageable and I know it's just a tiny glimpse of what people with more serious issues deal with. Still, before that I knew such things were difficult to deal with, but in comparison I didn't understand how thoroughly it affects you. My heart and my prayers go out to you for better relief than just pain medicine. I'm glad I still will be able to look forward to seeing posts from you at whatever frequency it may be and knowing you're around sifting through ours.

Thanks for your kindness. Here is a new joke for you.

When Love Fades

Last night I was sitting on the sofa watching TV when I heard my wife's voice from the kitchen: "What would you like for dinner, my love? Chicken, Beef or Lamb?"

I said, "Thank you, dear. I think I'll have chicken."

She replied, "You're having soup, a**hole. I was talking to the dog!!

Glad to read that you're sticking Around. As many others have already mentioned, you're one of the cornerstones of this forum. I'm going to be bummed to not see the blinking eagle in every thread anymore. I hope you find some sort of relief or ease in the future.
