Re: WANTED ROSTOCK MAX
Some caution may be called for ?
My GUESS is that very few of these stay "stock" for very long.
So while many/most of the mods on built machines may be very desirable to their previous owners YOU might find those mods quite confusing.
It could take you a while to figure out exactly what you get - and even longer to figure out how to adjust/maintain/repair it.
Mine took about two weeks of a couple of hours a night, so my estimate is that a 30 hour budget should work for most people.
I could have moved forward a bit faster, but I was in no rush.
Small mechanical things are generally not my "bag" anyway, so I rate myself toward the slow end of the distribution - YMMV and probably will.
You may find that the time spent to build one is less than the time required to understand an already built one.

Re: WANTED ROSTOCK MAX
Another thing to consider is shipping one. The reason that SeeMeCNC doesn't sell pre-built Rostock MAX machines is because they've not had ONE survive the shipping experience.

Yes, I've had one shift out of calibration just carrying it downstairs. They are sensitive!

Hmm, I tote mine all over the place in the backseat of my truck or car. Up stairs, down stairs, you name it. Never had a problem with it going out of calibration. I lift by the base, not the towers or top.

This is the key...also double checking that all your t-slot nuts are tight since they do loosen a bit from the material setting after the initial build.mhackney wrote:I lift by the base, not the towers or top.
