Bronzefill issue - UPDATES - need further assistance :)
So ive started to experiment with bronzefill the last few nights.
Both times the extruder broke off the filament and it would not extrude anymore... its a pain to get out then too because there are small broken pieces in the extruder.
has anyone else ever dealt with this?
thanks

Re: Bronzefill issue
Broke at the feeder up top?
The only time I've had that issue, it was due to a wide spot in the filament causing a jam.

Re: Bronzefill issue
A clogged hot end could cause the same kind of jam.

Re: Bronzefill issue
so i checked the feeder, and it was double jammed in there.. almost like it was trying to go through, but couldnt and just went back over itself.
so yeah, im sure a hot end could cause that... but i tend to think its not that, as the first time it happened, i was able to extrude right away through it again.
im going to have to measure this bronzefill i guess, again..
and its so brittle im sure ill break it coming off the reel...
this sucks haha

You may have to modify your cold extruder so that the filament cannot fold back on itself.
The best of luck!

Re: Bronzefill issue
so i am not sure if i have the jam issue fixed or not because now im having a hell of a time extruding bronzefill... it comes out SUPER thin, or not at all... im going 40mm on first layer, and 60 on the rest... its not ever getting to the 2nd layer.
its terrible. any ideas?
Temp 220
Bed 60
Speed 40 for the first, then 60mm
thank you

Re: Bronzefill issue
all the videos i found say start slow

Re: Bronzefill issue
strange, im finding things saying go fast, because otherwise you clog your nozzle... man, no consensus.
***so i think i figured out one of my issues... for some reason. when feeding bronzefill, the spring will extend a little more, the bearing thats attached to the red lever will actually come off a little bit and not be in contact with the filament... but actually riding on top of it, until i engage the lever, and it pops back down.***
this is WITH the tubing inserted in near the top of the feeder area... the red lever just works itself up every 2 turns or so on the wheel.
MADENING haha. i want to print with bronze
dont have this issue with any other filament (yet)
strange

so i dont think it has anything to do with my speed or flow, or anything.. not at this point anyway.
my feeder is just not working.. it will feed and print great for a few layers, 20 or so, then stop feeding all together, like its just slipping right on past the red lever with pressure..
im so freaking sick of this feeder with bronzefil filamant im about to throw it in the trash. Every fix hasnt work.
Seemecnc support is fantastic, i mean REALLY good.. but nothing is working... this filament is just so soft...

So.... interesting... i changed extruders to the printed one, much simpler design... not to say its better or worse, but it worked for this print (ive never finished a print before).
now it looks like i just need to tweak settings to tighten it up.. the infill on this skull kept sinking in to the gaps, so either im printing too hot or the span is too great...
either way.. i may have a working base for bronze
my bridges and overhangs suck bad though.. bridges especially

so back on the stock feeder and abs and pla printing great, bronze and ninjaflex still wont go.. ive made the PTFE tube addition and still nothing.. I think my gear on the end of the feeder motor is just not grippy.. everything just slides.

You could try printing a different type of extruder. Thingiverse has hundreds of them.
The air series seem to be really popular.
