Description:
These panels will replace the plexiglass panels on the sides of the Rostock Max v2 (where the towers are) for the bottom section. They have vents on either side. The rear panel is a different size than the side panels, but the side panels for left and right are the same. Print 1 of the rear panel and 2 of the side panels for full matching set!

Version History:
v1.1: Thinned the ends of the side panels to ~1.35mm to try and clear the power switch.
v1.0: Changed radii of both panels to make them larger.
v1.0-BETA: Initial.

Printed a rear panel from the BETA file today. Rotated to print in same orientation as it would be when installed. Fits OK. Could be 2-3 mm wider, but not essential. Printed in PLA with a 5 perimeter skirt to keep it anchored. Was a little concerned about the overhangs but printed fine with no support.

Let me know when/if you print the sides and I can adjust them all as required. Were the vents acceptable in size? I didn't want to get too fancy with them because of the flex requirements for the panel.Earthbound wrote:Printed a rear panel from the BETA file today. I printed an abbreviated (15mm tall) strip of the BETA side panel to check the span. Needs to be longer, so I suggest increasing the radius of the arc by 4mm.
Vents are fine. Panel doesn't really have to flex very much since it is pre-curved. Nothing like the stresses of the sprung plexi.

Cool, I'll update those tomorrow (+3mm for rear and +4mm for side, I guess) and then move them to v1.0 and post em on Repables. Thanks!Earthbound wrote:I printed an abbreviated (15mm tall) strip of the BETA side panel to check the span. Needs to be longer, so I suggest increasing the radius of the arc by 4mm.

I've been inconsistent with the dimensional basis of my suggestions. I hope this is more clear.
Rear panel too narrow by 2-3mm, increase length of arc by same, or increase radius of arc by 1.5mm.
Side panel too narrow by ~6mm, increase length of arc by same, or increase radius of arc by 4mm.

Re: Replacement Plexi Panels for RMv2 [v1.0 11-3-14]
I printed the updated side panel tonight. Fit is OK on the right side. Left side has a problem due to interference with nut on underside of power switch. How about one with the same ID on the arc, but 0.5 mm less on the OD, making it a 1.5 mm wall thickness. Could also just go thin in that one location.

I thinned the side panel model on both sides to ~1.35mm so that it can be installed in either direction. It won't slice any thinner for me, so if it needs to be thinner the only way is the X-ACTO way!Earthbound wrote:I printed the updated side panel tonight. Fit is OK on the right side. Edit: Just to be clear, it is thinner at ~1.35mm on each end and then it arcs to the normal 2mm thickness about 20mm from the end. That should clear it, and if it doesn't let me know and I will thin it for a bit more length or make the arc have a bit less radius to make it arc more.
