Should I get the orion or the rostock max v2?
Should I get the orion or the rostock max v2?
so i'm trying to decide weather to get the orion delta or the rostock max v2 I know the orion is pre assembled but has a smaller build plate its also precalibrated and looks cleaner. And the rostock max v2 is not pre assembled its cheaper but has a very large build area. What i want to know is which is overall better for higher quality prints. that's the deal breaker for me. which one prints better. can someone post an image for something of 2 prints of the same object on both printers at the same settings. i'm worried that the orion is to small but i'm also worried that the rostock max has lower quality prints

First of all I own both the Orion and the Rostock Max so I feel qualified to speak.zastin17 wrote:so i'm trying to decide weather to get the orion delta or the rostock max v2 I know the orion is pre assembled but has a smaller build plate its also precalibrated and looks cleaner. Do know what the difference is between the Orion and the Max besides the cases and the length of the uprights?
The length of the arms are the biggest difference. The Orion and the Max can and do produce excellent quality prints
and neither have the advantage over the other in terms of print quality. I use the Orion to do small parts and the bigger
stuff I do with the Max. If I were to do the same part on the Orion and the Max you will see no difference in the parts.
The only thing you should be thinking about is if the Orion build area is large enough for your print needs and will it remain so in the years you own it.
If you feel you can live with the smaller print area then go with the Orion but know this, most people who buy it will turn around in a year and say GEE,
I wish I would have bought a printer with a larger build area. If you feel that you have what it takes to follow instructions and don't mind working with
your hands and mind, then buy a Max. The Max V2 has a look very similar to that of the Orion.
One last thing, do not base your decision on print quality because they print exactly the same if the Max is calibrated per instructions. Don't let those words
scare you, the build and calibration are all documented and all you have to do is be able to follow instructions.
Which ever one you purchase, you are welcomed on this forum and we will help you out any time you need help.

Excellent decision. When you get it and want to show off your build you can open a build log and show everyone your build via pictures and text.zastin17 wrote:Thank you for that exelent reply Ile go with the rostock max then I love building things and I am very experience at soldering and putting things together
Thanks for choosing the Rostock Max V2.

Some people actually just need the smaller Orion platform and will never need something bigger. That the way I went and unless I get a big hit on a production part, I shouldn;t need anything bigger.

Welcome to the Forum! You are correct, some people are quite happy with the Orion and its size and will never need anything larger.RAMTechRob wrote:Some people actually just need the smaller Orion platform and will never need something bigger. Thanks everyone i'm 15 and I'm very good at building things with anything electronic and soldering. I was taking a look at the instructions and everything looks prety streght four wourd exept for installing the belts and some parts where you wire the motor up but now I know that these forums are so open to talking so I can just ask qestions. My biggest fear when turning it on for the first time is when I flip the switch it will spark and burn out ive dealt with things like this when I was modded my xbox.
