so im up to the belt installation, i have only done one for time being (z Axis)
I have it all set up, tightened to what i "think" is correct, but when i move the cheepskate up and down, i here it rubbing on the black idler bearing spacer on one side when it gets to the top and bottom of the tower.
Is this a normal thing, or have i installed it wrong somehow?

Re: Getting the belt alligned 100% with the pulley
There's a chance that there's a burr or some mold flash on the plastic spacer that could be removed, but it's not uncommon for the belt to ride against the spacer. That's why it's a larger diameter than the 608 bearing, to act as a guide.
If it's touching the spacer, don't worry about it. If it's snagging or scratching, take a closer look.

it doesn't feel like its physically snagging, well i cant feel it anywayJimustanguitar wrote:There's a chance that there's a burr or some mold flash on the plastic spacer that could be removed, but it's not uncommon for the belt to ride against the spacer. but it does sound like scratching noise, but on close inspection, its just the sides rubbing. ill see how the other towers go.
if anyone else has any suggestions, that would be appreciated
Thanks Jimustanguitar

Not sure if this would solve your problem, but I'm using an older version of this these things to keep the belts from sliding over. This may not apply if you've got a V2.
Re: Getting the belt alligned 100% with the pulley
Hopefully you have this solved, but I noticed when placing the belts on the carriages that I had accidentally installed the gear/pulley backwards on the Y-axis stepper motor. It was a minor offset so it took a while to diagnose. It was rubbing on the melamine base plate, right where the notch is for the belt to travel through. Took some careful hands and torque to remove the grub screws since they were installed with Lock-tite, but I was able to flip the pulley over and everything was fine after that. I don't know if this is your case, but it might be worth a look.

Im pretty sure my gears are all installed correctly as i also had to remove them to compensate for the dampeners. Thanks for that anywayesbowman wrote:Hopefully you have this solved, but I noticed when placing the belts on the carriages that I had accidentally installed the gear/pulley backwards on the Y-axis stepper motor. Im getting the grinding on all axis, but its not creating any drag or resistance so i might just leave it for now until i figure out if its really an issue or not
i just hope i have all the belts tightened correctly!! haha
