Nothing to exciting just a test run vid

Have an upgraded 1st gen, its been printing great accept recently i had a (hot end ) fan shroud melting issue not sure why,
it was made from ABS but still heated enough to drip down, anyways i printed a new one and did my yoda head test,

upgraded EZStruder and heat bed upgrade
top mounted filament

here is a vid i just made showing the old hot end fan shroud and the new one attached doing a teest run on yoda head

That looks like the shroud for the peek fan. Do you ensure that the peek fan is on 100% when the hotend is hot?
The peek fan is the most important fan on the printer and must be on when the hotend is hot.

the fan always comes on when i print for sure, actually all 3 are always on when i print etc. the shroud that slightly melted could have been effected as i noticed it wasnt all the way snapped into the slot. but either way everything seems fine with new shroud on and i will monitor it.

oh was probably because it was very bright in here that they may have looked orange in the video, they are red though.

i had thought about the fan after my last post. one thing i notice is when i print file ( load ) the peak fan doesn't come on till the temps are reached and printing has started. but dont i want the peak fan to come on soon as the hot end starts to warm up?

so my question is if i use a g-code command in my kisslicer when slicing the file will it start the fan soon as warm up starts? or do you have another way of doing it?

If you have the peek fan hooked up to Fan0 then with SeeMeCNCs Repetier firmware it should turn on as soon as you start the machine.

It's something in Configuration.h of the firmware to set the fan to always be on.


Maybe you can change:

#define EXTRUDER_FAN_COOL_TEMP 40

to this:

#define EXTRUDER_FAN_COOL_TEMP 0

Then the fan should be on as soon as the hot end is on.

Except it's not Fan 0, it's Heat 1.

Fan 0 is the layer fan and is controlled by either an M code or the fan slider in Repetier-Host.
Heat 1 is used for the PEEK fan. It turns on with the hot end and will automatically turn off when the hot end temperature falls below 50C.

hi thanks, the orange hides some detail away for sure. couple overhang issues under chin and tip of er but overall pretty satisfactory for orange PLA ( its a pain in the butt so far)

was .3mm layers
2 loops
wipe on
destring on
20% infill
skin thickness .75mm
z lift 1mm
.165 filament measured
50mm sec speed cut back 90% manual control

hey thanks! i have been having fun for sure, the next piece i printed was a gyro cube,

so for now i just added the M106 command to the prefix code in kisslicer and fan comes when hotend comes on, i will see about hooking it up directly to heat 1 later on.

Excellent print, very nice job and no cooling fan for the filament. I've not managed one as tight as yours, been thinking it needed cooling, obviously not. Once agai, good job...

just to re-say what gene did... the peek fan should be wired to heat1 on the rambo... the wiring (if the green wire connectors are on the top) should go like this:
(from left to right)
Hotend -, + Layer fan -, + Peek fan -, + No connection -,+ Heated Bed -, +

and with the .91 firmware, as gene said, the peek fan will come on at the same time the hotend does, and will remain on until the hotend temp drops below 50c

thanks for the tips. im using .80 maybe when i update in the future i might change, in the meantime adding the m106 to the prefix gcode puts fan on whenever hot end is on for a print job.
