Greetings from Burbank California

Post by cgbobio »

Hi everyone!

I just ordered myself a Rostock MAX v2 kit last Sunday and will soon be joining the ranks! I'm looking forward to building my new printer as well as sharing ideas with you all. I live in Burbank, CA and have been in the 3D computer animation biz since 92. It's beginning to feel like Christmas around here as I wait for the email that lets me know my new printer has shipped...

I hope to get to know you all!

Welcome to the Forum Bob!

It's always good when we get a new member who just purchased a new Rostock Max V2.
I have two of the Version 1 and am waiting for an upgrade kit so I can upgrade mine to the Version 2.
You will love the kit building process and since you are already 3D experienced via the Animation business you are already miles ahead of the typical builder.
We are here to help you along the way if you have questions and we are looking forward to the help you can offer the community when the opportunity presents itself.

If you haven't done it already, we do have a V2 manual that is still work in progress because the V2 is so new but you can download it here:
http://download.seemecnc.com/rostockmax ... -Guide.pdf
Have a fun build and before long you will be making great new printed parts!

Thanks so much for the welcome, I have been checking daily for updates on the assembly manual and have read through with each new revision! So excited, I can't wait for the kit!!! I have been modeling a new gear for my electric weedeater since the orginal gear melted. Thinking of building one in nylon over ABS... Would love to hear any input all of you have on materials to use for this type of build.

3DSMax, Zbrush and a little Rhino. I don't own Maya or Lightwave, but have used them in the past.

3DS max was what I learned on, wish I'd played with zbrush.
I'm using blender now because it's free, but I'm finding it very foreign to any other 3d package I've used :/

So what awesome models have you made that you'll be printing first?

My first print was probably going to be a new drive gear for my weedeater... the one it came with was cheap plastic and melted after only a few uses. My buddy wanted me to make him some custom elbows for a PVC pipe awning he is making, so I was planning on making some in various angles for him. I figured it would look nicer if they slipped inside the pipe and were flush to the diameter of pipe he uses. Will post images as we start work on it.

Woke up this morning and Happy Birthday to me, my V2 has shipped! I guess I won't be sleeping much until it arrives!
