Hello from Salem MA
Hello from Salem MA
Hello all, I'm a mechanical designer from Massachusetts, I've been a Solidworks user for over 15 years now, I has just purchased a Rostock MAX last week and at this point have it mostly assembled except for waiting for a few things to come in the mail that are needed that the purchase page for the printer didn't list I needed and I couldn't purchase locally, the kapton tape and ptfe tubing for the hot end resistors. the main reason I bought the 3d printer is for my main hobby, cosplay (costuming), as it will be very useful for building all sorts of props I currently have to hand fabricate using fiberglass, fimo clay, and other various materials, though it will probably inevitably be used now and again for my work for parts we may need quickly when building prototype systems. I bought a spool of abs to start with, though after reading about it I'm very interested in trying the t-glase they sell in the SeeMeCNC store.

What witchcraft is this?!

Sorry, it's been a "low hanging fruit" kind of day.

Hurray, someone else who uses their printer for cosplay! I'm printing some Attack on Titan maneuver gear pieces right now.

t-glase is double the cost of pla or abs. it can also take longer to print, so for a prototype its probably not the best material. for final work you can do some really cool optics and such for l.e.d's with the t-glase. If your wanting a really smooth finish, look into abs vapor bath.
Re: Hello from Salem MA
I'll second that...vapor smoothed parts look *nice*.bubbasnow wrote:If your wanting a really smooth finish, look into abs vapor bath.
