G28 Command
G28 Command
Hello
Trying to setup my rostock max printer and having trouble when it comes to the G28 test to check the correct wiring of the stepper motors - when i send this command the motors made a small movement then stopped - when i turned the power switch off then on again they made another small shift and stopped - now they don't make any shift at all.
Any ideas?? Sorry if this is in the wrong forum .etc but im lost and really needing some advice.
Thanks
Selwyn

Also When i go to update Arduino i get this message

Re: G28 Command
Have you run the checks in the Assembly Guide for the end stops? It sounds like it could be they are indicating they are closed. From the manual control panel in Repetier, can you manually move the carriages with the arrow buttons?
Re: G28 Command
It's a bit hard to come up with an assessment based on the minimal information given. If you haven't already, I would take a look and follow the instructions at the end of the build manual (http://download.seemecnc.com/Rostock-MA ... -Guide.pdf) starting from page 152. It steps you through how to setup and install the arduino firmware as well as getting your motors moving correctly.
As for your arduino error, it may be that the other files in the program have not been loaded. Check to make sure the 'tabs' at the top of the text edit contain more files than just 'Main.cpp", there should be a lot of files there.

Re: G28 Command
I have run the checks on the end stops and they seam to all be functioning fine - but when i go to run the G28 it starts for a short period of time then stops and wont move past that point.
The Z value in the manual control panel changes from 0 to 360.95
When i connect it also says SD init fail - if this is of any help

Re: G28 Command
I had the SD init failure problem and it ended up that I had the connectors between the LCD and Rambo flipped. Don't go by the orientation of the connector in the installation guide....go by the pink strip on the ribbon cable to make sure everything is plugged in correctly.
As for the G28 command problem, I'm not sure what to do past making sure the end stops are wired for normally open.

Re: G28 Command
Mine says SD Init Fail all the time, but the Max is working fine, so I doubt that has anything to do with it. I haven't checked yet to see if that SD Init Fail message comes up if there's already an SD card in the slot when I turn it on. That will be a good thing to test later.
You didn't happen ti run your end stop wires in the same channels as any of the other cabling, did you? That's been known to cause problems as the end stops are very sensitive to electrical noise.

Re: G28 Command
There were some threads on this board some time back where users were going to try placing .1ufd caps across the end stop switch's connections but no one has reported back and letToyguy wrote:Mine says SD Init Fail all the time, but the Max is working fine, so I doubt that has anything to do with it. us know if doing that helped solve the noise problem.
Re: G28 Command
Finally managed to solve the problem with replacing the power supply.
Now i have another issue though.
Regarding this command G0 Z5 X77.94 Y-45 F3500
When the printer lowers down to the other two positions (G0 Z5 X-77.94 Y-45 F3500 and G0 Z5 X0 Y90 F3500) it moves rapidly
When it lowers to the G0 Z5 X77.94 Y-45 F3500 position it moves very very slowly.
Any ideas??
Thanks

G28 moves assembly up 2cm
Hey guys as my subject says i screwed up some settings while messing around with the LCD. Now when I send a g28 command it moves up about 2cm if I keep moving up 2cm at a time until i hit the endstop switch it keeps going (not good of course) the end stops dont seem to be reseting the cheapskates/extruder assembly like they should but if I issue a M119 command it checks out per genes instructions.

Re: G28 Command
So I can assume that none of the links you found helped you at all?
Wait, you hijacked this thread instead of continuing your past thread. Hijacking another
thread and not using the one you had just adds confusion to everything. Oh well, what's
done is done.
I am looking for a user to help tc3jg because I do not have the knowledge needed to
help him. After looking at the past history this has been an ongoing problem that has
not been resolved. Any user who feels they have an idea, please jump in. This has been
unresolved too long and that's not what we are about. I admit when I do not have enough
knowledge, how about one of you heavy hitters taking a crack at getting this fixed.

Selwyn, your thread got hijacked, perhaps Geneb has an idea what should be done.

LOL eaglezsoar i thought thats what you meant for me to do is post it here instead of creating another thread!. No none of the links helped. My issue doesn't seem to match his.
I can make my own its no problem if he prefers it!

Re: G28 Command
No, I did not mean for you to hijack a thread. You never hijack someone Else's thread. I gave you a thread to read because some of the problems had commonality with yourstc3jg wrote:LOL eaglezsoar i thought thats what you meant for me to do is post it here instead of creating another thread!. then I asked you to search the troubleshooting thread for G28 to find other threads in common with yours to perhaps get some ideas that could help you. Please remember
one thing, do not hijack someone Else's thread. You already had a thread open at http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... 561#p25561. I am not angry,
I am disturbed. You have been around long enough and I was surprised that you jumped into the middle of another users thread when you already had one open. My real goal
in all of this is to get your problem fixed, that's why I asked for input from the heavy hitters on this forum, ie the more knowledgeable users. You have been down long enough
and we need to get this G28 problem resolved.

Re: G28 Command
I would start from scratch. Download a fresh copy of the latest firmware and follow the instructions in the manual really carefully, paying extra attention to the endstops. As Lochemage said, be sure you open the main file in the firmware that shows all the tabs at the top. The one thing you will have to do to be sure you start with all of the default settings is to change the EEPROM setting in configuration.h to 2 (or any digit other than 0 or whatever it is set to now). If you leave it at 1, whatever is in your EEPROM will stay there and cause confusion as you are trying to set it up. The speed of manual movements can be adjusted in repetier host by going to printer settings. That's all I can think of. I hope you can get it working.

Re: G28 Command
I agree at this point it is best to start over. tc3jg, do you understand what osr means when he says change the EEPROM setting in Configuration.h to any digit different than what'sosr wrote:I would start from scratch. in there now? Now is the time to ask questions before you install the firmware again. Basically go to the manual and follow the software installation procedure taking note what
osr said about changing the EEPROM setting before uploading the firmware. After the firmware has been uploaded, you upload it again with a different enable EEPROM Number.
Any questions just ask. I believe that it was your dickering around in EEPROM that caused all these problems in the first place. We want to reinstall the firmware, clear out the
firmware and start over from the beginning.

A note to ADMIN: If you delete all the messages starting from the one from tc3jg and all messages afterwards, the thread hijack would be removed.

Re: G28 Command
I will download again and give it a shot. I have been using the same firmware that I've edited. Cross your fingers.
PS. Guess I didn't read carefully enough actually thought he had completed all of his troubleshooting.

Re: G28 Command
Haha well that went a bit off track
Still have the problem lowering my extruder head - when i go to lower it using the manual commands it lowers really slowly - though it may be a problem with the motor but it still rises back up to the end stops at a normal rate and as explained below from my previous post
command G0 Z5 X77.94 Y-45 F3500
When the printer lowers down to the other two positions (G0 Z5 X-77.94 Y-45 F3500 and G0 Z5 X0 Y90 F3500) it moves rapidly
When it lowers to the G0 Z5 X77.94 Y-45 F3500 position it moves very very slowly.
Any ideas
