Re: "create it REAL" processor
Well until they post more information, it's nothing. There are no hardware specifics - it's vaporware until they do.
ARM boards - like the Smoothieboard http://smoothieware.org/smoothieboard, will dramatically increase speeds and improve the quality of prints by maximizing the potential of our hardware. I was a backer and they've begun shipping, so I should have mine soon. I will definitely be updating everyone here on the results.

Faster processor is fine, means it can handle interrupts much faster. That in itself will not cause your printer to print faster necessarily. This board has cripple wareBatteau62 wrote:http://www.3ders.org/articles/20131212- ... essor.html

on it which is the reason I would never support it. I am not in favor of printing guns but I would never purchase anything that PREVENTED me from doing so. The
government has there hands into everything we do I don't want them in my printer.
Re: "create it REAL" processor
They can "claim" all they like, but writing code to block printing of a specific kind of part is pure fantasy.

Re: "create it REAL" processor
Oh, c'mon Gene, it's not that hard...
Let's see...
Rule #1 in the code - don't print anything named "gun parts.gcode" or anything similarly named
Rule #2 in the code - upon import into the program, upload the STL to the cloud and have someone behind a desk in India look at the part. Each person will have pictures of every gun currently in existence in a binder at their desk for reference. If anything looks like it is a part, or could be a part, to any gun, reject it.
Done and done.

The advantage of this board is that it can run your printer so fast that it will shake itself apart and probably kill whatever it falls on!
