I have no idea what it would take to setup a wiki, but wondered if anyone else had a similar thought.
I love the forums, but...perhaps a wiki would help?

I'm extremely grateful for these forums and all of you folks who have been extremely helpful in getting my R-MAX up and running. One of the difficulties, however (and I've seen other noobs like myself doing the same thing) is that the information on the forums is somewhat scattered. The number of topics is staggering
GeneB's manual certainly is the best place to start for setting up a new machine, but I'm wondering if a Wiki that has tuning, fan setup and other items that can be easily edited/extended would be a useful thing to have. In particular, I've been thinking about the need (which I could still use myself) of step-by-step models to print with various settings to fine tune things (like the nice Extruder tuning topic).

I like that idea. Hopefully John Oly will weigh in on this topic as well because he and I were just talking about something similar with sharing ideas with the community on GitHub.
There is a Rostock Max Wikipedia page already, but I don't know how much traffic and how many contributors go there. Have you seen it before?

Ahh, yes, I had seen that wiki page, but saw it more as just detailing the HW (although I did try the slice settings for the PyramidJimustanguitar wrote: There is a Rostock Max Wikipedia page already, but I don't know how much traffic and how many contributors go there. Have you seen it before?

Hey all.
Yes, it wouldn't be that hard at all to set up a wiki, really, but as was mentioned, there is already a pretty big wiki page at the reprap.org/wiki/RostockMAX page. I can see some use coming later as we build out more machines and hardware though. What is your guys' thoughts? Would you rather see us start a wiki, or keep it in the original community on reprap wiki?
John

If we keep adding more and more locations it becomes difficult to find everything.

But then you don't get to have an epic battle that would be called 'The Rostock Wiki Wars'.

reprap.org/wiki/RostockMAX is just a single page. wiki.seemecnc.com could be dozens of pages in the first week. If we can have our own forums, we can have our own wiki.
