Unofficial Printrboard Documentation [Work in Progress!]

Post by Extrude3D »

Extrude3D's Unofficial Printrboard Documentation for the H-1 3D Printer.

Note: this is still a work in progress and will be published once I am finished with it completely. I have a really good work ethic so I think this will get done pretty fast (Early July to Mid August Completion)

The Current Printrboard v2:

Cross-Platform Compatibility Tutorial. Works on all systems (Mac Tested)

Why buy a Printrboard?:
no soldering, no hassle, cross platform compatibility, SD card slot is always a plus (Makerbots have those and they are morbidly expensive), and easy to work with.

Hardware Mounting Tutorial
: This will be posted once I finish my H-1 and order my Printrboard & NEMA 17's. NOT COMPLETED YET

Wiring Tutorial

Connecting the H-1's Extruder to the Printrboard:

You will need to purchase (Total is less than $3):

*steps coming soon*

Connecting your PSU to the Printrboard

Brook Drumm gave us a neat video showing how to connect it, but we do not have the 'y adapter' that he shows in the video. It is called a 'hPCI-E 6-pin to 2-Molex Power Y-Adapter Power Cable'

Software Tutorial: I use a Macbook Pro i7, so we will be using the mac versions of Prontrface (http://koti.kapsi.fi/~kliment/printrun/) and Replicator G.

Step 1: Find/Design a .stl file (Thingiverse/Google Sketchup) and save it to your desktop.

Step 2: Fire up ReplicatorG and generate G-Code

Step 3: Open Prontrface and import your G-Code from ReplicatorG.

Step 4: Center all motors and heat extruder (and heated bed if you have one) for 3-4 minutes

Step 5: Click 'Print'

The print should now start on your H-1, way less steps and difficulties than MACH3. It was also easier to wire than the normal driver board.

If you would like to send a few bucks my way so I can get to buying my Printrboard, and lots of stuff that I mention on this page, do it: http://lgoptimusvrootkit.chipin.com/pri ... 3d-printer
