I'm working on getting a good print, but I keep getting some bits hanging out of the edge of the print. I decided to go back and print some test calibration stuff, and this is how thin wall cube turned out.
It is ABS printed at 240deg on to a 70deg glass with hairspray.
I printed one at 235deg and it looks almost identical. I will try one at 230 just to see how it looks.
Here are some additional settings that may help identify the problem
.55 extrusion width
.5 nozzle
.93 extrusion multiplier
6mm retract
0 retract lift
2mm minimum travel after retract.

I don't see anything here except if you set 2mm lift with 0 retract, I don't think it does anything with retract.... Perhaps a little faster speed and a lower multiplier....DaGroundZero wrote:I'm working on getting a good print, but I keep getting some bits hanging out of the edge of the print. Re: ideas on troubleshooting this print
The walls look too fat for a single wall cube ... seems like there is too much plastic coming out.
First I would turn off retraction for the single wall cube. That removes some of the possible causes for the crusty bits.
I would measure the filament and enter the diameter in the slicer. Assuming that's all set, then dial back the extrusion multiplier from 0.93 to something lower, maybe 0.83 and see if it's any cleaner. If so, then you can fine tune the extrusion multiplier until the wall thickness comes out close to your extrusion width (0.55mm).

Thanks all. I said single wall cube, but I intended to say a cube with 1mm walls. Sorry. My bad on that one. I've taken everyone's suggestions and made changes. I'm giving it a test print now. I will do a single wall test as well.
