LCD Jumble

Post by blackrabt »

After completing the HE280 upgrade on my Rostock Max V2 I am getting this bizarre jumble of characters on my LCD after clicking connect in MatterControl. I have reflashed and checked all connections. It does not seem to impact performance of the printer but does make it hard to use standalone. When I first turn the printer on it works just fine and perhaps 1/20 times it will work properly all the way through a print. Any ideas on how to stop this?

The issue is not present when printing from SD card.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I am having this exact problem on an Orion.

Usually that's a sign that a cap is going bad, or your power rail is glitchy. Try re-routing the cable to the LCD away from any other wires as well.

And you can try opening a sketch in Arduino that does nothing more than a simple "Hello World" to the display. If it works correctly, then I would have to say that maybe something got corrupted in your firmware.
