Re: Heater Bed Power Connector melted.

I absolutely agree with Xenocrates. I replaced my RAMbo with a Duet Wifi board and without a doubt it has been the best upgrade of the many I have made. On top of the terrific Wifi enabled web interface, my stepper motors are now whisper quiet. I also appreciate features such as not allowing the ...

Re: Heater Bed Power Connector melted.

I am sorry to hear about the melted connector. It is a known issue and it is why it is important to use bootlace ferrules on the ends of stranded wire that is inserted into screw down connectors: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=11821&p=105261#p105261 If you end up needing one, I've ...

Re: The Palette (Mosaic Manufacturing)

I was notified the other day that a new Palette + (plus) is being shipped at the end of July. Among other improvements, it will have an improved enclosed method for splicing that will create a splice as strong as the filament itself. You can read more about all the improvements here: https://www ...

Re: The Palette (Mosaic Manufacturing)

I am interested in the Palette, as well, however my understanding is it will only work with Cura and S3D. I have grown very attached to the results from Kisslicer and really don't want to stop using it. Is there a way around this? Also, I have tried to gain an understanding of how the Palette uses ...

Re: Berd Air Max v2 Motor Running Hot

Thank you for the reply, gchristopher! I appreciate knowing I am not alone. The maker of the Berd Air, Glenn said his motor ran at 120F once it warmed up. Well, it turned out the reason I was reaching 150F was, as is too often the case with me, user error. I wasn't thinking clearly about it when I ...

Berd Air Max v2 Motor Running Hot

I just installed the Berd Air Max v2 on my Rostock Max v3 and noticed the motor is running very hot to the touch at about 150F. The board is a Duet Wifi and I am running the motor at 75% through the Duet's PWM E0 output through the provided eSwitch. The motor is mounted on top of the printer with ...

Re: Stock Max v3 Motors on 24v?

I just noticed that the 1.6A motors have an inductance rating per phase, while the 2A doesn't mention phase. Is measuring induction per phase what is normal?

Re: Stock Max v3 Motors on 24v?

Thank you for the reply. The only 2A 0.9 deg motors I could find on www.omc-stepperonline.com and on Amazon have an inductance of 3mH, while the 1.68A motors I found on www.ultibots.com have an inductance of 2.8mH. Further, the holding torque of the 2A is 46Ncm vs 44Ncm of the 1.68A motors. Using ...

Re: Stock Max v3 Motors on 24v?

That does make sense. Thank you for the quick reply. I am looking for 0.9 steppers, however I don't feel confident in making a decision on where and what to buy from lack of reviews on specific motors. I believe the stock motors are made by Wantai. I would like the quality of the replacement 0.9 ...

Stock Max v3 Motors on 24v?

Can the stock Max v3 and the stock Bondtech QR stepper motors run on 24v with a Duet Wifi board? If so, what changes do I need to make in which configuration?

I appreciate any help!

Re: Well my Rambo melted

When I was building my v3, I was told by a German friend that one should NEVER put a stranded wire in a screw down connector, tinned or otherwise, but especially not tinned. He was horrified that I would even consider it. Instead, in Germany it is common knowledge and practice to always use a ...

Re: FSR Calibration with the Duet Wifi

Thank you for the quick reply! It turned out to be user error. Earlier today I changed the 13 probing points in the bed.g file to rotate them 45 degrees. I used a spreadsheet to do this and in constructing the G30 codes I made all the P parameters have a value of 0 (zero) and I left off the S6 ...

FSR Calibration with the Duet Wifi

I have a Rostock Max v3 with FSR probing, the Trick Laser FSR plate, and the Duet Wifi board. I am trying to do a large (230 mm widest) print and am consistently having the first layer around the perimeter not adhere at all. Small prints (~ 50 mm widest) adhere perfectly. The bed is the stock glass ...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Weird Layer Issue

Xenocrates, my apologies for the slow reply. I did reduce the P part of the PID and it did help significantly. I also, along the way and with the new 24v power supply, replaced the stock plastic bed support with a FSR bed plate from Trick Laser, which is a better insulator. All of it did the trick ...

Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

For context, this post is regarding how to hold down the glass and (optionally) heat spreader on the Michael Hackney designed and Trick Laser implemented FSR bed plate. The issue is, because the glass and heat spreader lay on top of the FSR build plate and the screw holes for securing the clamps on ...

Brand New Stock Max v3 Parts for Sale after Upgrading

As many of us do, I built my stock Rostock Max v3 a few weeks ago and then promptly replaced most of its components with upgrades. So now, I have a bunch of stock v3 parts that need to find someone who can use them. The parts have only been used long enough to verify they work as expected. I am ...

Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

Michael, no hurry, at all! The binder clips are working fine and I can come up with an aluminum clip. I didn't describe the situation with the fans well - making the radius smaller didn't make the fans interfere with clips, it's that the fans continued to brush the clips before and after the radius ...

Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

Thank you for the quick reply! I just generated new probe points, however the stock fans spread so far out from the nozzle, with a fan pointing in the same direction as each hold down ear, so that bringing in the probing radius doesn't make a difference. No worries, I'm replacing them with the Berd ...

I just set up FSR probing on my Max v3 and, just as you say Michael, it is absolutely dead on, every time! FSR Wire Routing

I am installing the FSR probing kit from Ultibots on my Rostock Max v3, following Michael Hackney's instructions on his blog (thank you Michael!).
