Re: how do I run the HE280 auto calibration with octopi?
I fixed the issue by reflashing the firmware. When I have more time I will revisit the autocalibration on octopi

Re: how do I run the HE280 auto calibration with octopi?
Okay, I thought I was following Geneb's instructions carefully but I have done something wrong. Now when I run a G29 command it crashes the hotend into the bed. It starts out normally but instead of moving parallel to the bed to the X tower it slowly crashes into the bed and drags itself towards it ...

how do I run the HE280 auto calibration with octopi?
Hello all,
I just installed Octopi on my V2 with the HE280. I need to run the auto calibration. I used to plug the printer into my laptop and run it through mattercontrol by pushing the auto calibration macro. Im not sure how to make that work through Octopi. Thanks in advance.

ABS slurry is ABS dissolved into acetone. It acts as a base layer painted onto your base plate to help with adhesion (and curling) of your first layer..

Welcome aboard. I live in the south suburbs. It's nice to see I'm not the only one in the Chicago area with a MAX. Perhaps we could get together and compare notes. I would also recommend attending MRRF. The experience is not to be missed.

Thank you for bringing this up viciousXP . I also upgraded to the HE280 and have been having hit or miss results with my prints.

Re: gcode to load filament
So if my bowden tube was 600 mm long i'm guessing I would create a macro that is something like; M302 S0 (cold extrusion min temp 0) G1 E600 (linear move extrude 600 mm) M302 S170 (cold extrusion min temp 170) Ok so if I add M81 (turn off ATX power supply) to the end G code commands it should turn ...

Re: powering a light ring off the HE280
I know the amount of electricity the light ring uses is infinitesimal small, but I was just curious if there was a line of code or something that would do that.

powering a light ring off the HE280
Howdy all, I asked this question on an older thread for the MAX3 board and have not received a response. I will repost it here and hopefully someone else can benefit from it besides myself. I know you can power a light ring off the HE280 board. Is there any way to turn it on and off? Thanks in ...

gcode to load filament
Howdy all, I guess this is a 2 part question. The easy one is what G code would you use to have the filament feed itself down the bowden tube once the extruder motor engages with it. The second question is how do you learn how to write the macro for this sort of thing? Web sites, books, or other ...

Is there a way to switch the light ring on and off if you wire it to the HE280 board?

Re: As silly as this sounds...
I have a v2 that I just (two weeks ago) installed the HE280 hotend on. I bought the v2 in November of 2015. I'm pretty sure it has the newer power supply. Much of what your saying is a little over my head in terms of understanding. I am confident in my mechanical skills but the software side of life ...

As silly as this sounds...
Should I do a PID aoutotune for the HE280 hotend? I have been doing pretty well with it "out of the box" until i printed with a temp of 225. It would only go up to about 218 until I turned up the temp a few degrees and it rose a few degrees. it seems to be consistently 5 degrees low.

The part casting is an interesting idea. As far as the anthills go, I thought you were referring to something like this. http://www.anthillart.com/

Re: What can I do with this?
Xenocrates, what parts need to be polished to a mirror finish? (that is well within my capabilities) I was thinking I would just pull parts off the J head clone and get a bigger nozzle (or drill out an old one).
Pardon my ignorance but what are the advantages of casting parts?

I have a drill press, taps and dies, bandsaw, all kinds of toys. And the block was free and I have a virtually inexustable supply of the blocks.

What can I do with this?
I have this solid aluminum block roughly 1" X 3/4" X 3/4". I was thinking either a dual extruder or pseudo volcano. Input or other suggestions? I included a picture next to a J head clone for reference.
