Automatic Calibration Crashes/Freezes/Broken
So, I've been having a lot of fun with my new HE280 hot end assembly lately - apparently too much fun. I have been tinkering with it for the last couple days, experimenting with swapping in the heater block assembly from an e3D Volcano, and now the calibration routine is going crazy and I'm worried ...

Re: Planetary gearbox: is it worth it?
Thanks for the suggestions! Xenocrates, good call on the motor current - a little digging revealed that I've got the Wantai steppers that shipped with the older kits, which require more current than the Kysan motors that apparently have been shipping for a while now. The Configuration.h setting ...

Re: Rough print
Run calibration studies by changing one variable at a time. It's always tempting to change a few at a time but don't cave - it's not real science unless you are only altering one variable. Print small parts to save time; run a search for "calibration" on thingiverse and you'll get lots of good ideas ...

Re: "Printer reset detected" mid print
I had a similar issue that turned out to be because my power supply was overheating due to obstructed airflow (I was updating an older Rostock Max v1, the base of which is lacking some of the thermal optimization from later versions). I ended up eliminating the problem by running the PSU outside of ...

Planetary gearbox: is it worth it?
Hey guys! Excited to report that I have successfully updated my Rostock MAX v1, which I purchased at a Maker Faire in 2013 before I knew anything about 3D printing, and which never really worked properly, to what is effectively now a Rmax v3 with molded cheapskates, ball joints and an HE280 hot end ...

Re: Is my RAMBo dead?
JUST KIDDING I never plugged it back in after I was testing it in the Z axis jack. And now it's mysteriously working again yaaaaaayyyy

Re: Is my RAMBo dead?
HEYO just found the problem -- one of the LCD ribbon connectors had come loose when I was switching the motor controllers around, and it just needed a little shove. Sneaky bugger didn't actually cause the screen to malfunction, but only the SD card reader. Love it when it turns out it's something ...

Re: Is my RAMBo dead?
I have re-flashed the firmware using the following steps: - Clear EEPROM from arduino example script - Download fresh firmware from Rostock github & change only the machine-specific calibration values in Configuration.h (max_length values, printer_radius, invert_dir values) - Compile & upload to ...

Re: Is my RAMBo dead?
Doesn't work - LCD same description as above, just says "Killed" at the bottom, can't get to the menu.

Re: Is my RAMBo dead?
Thanks for the suggestion but it's not that either. I can't home the towers, and I only have one printer on the dropdown that I created when I initially set up the machine (except the original "default" but that doesn't do anything either). I noticed also that when it starts up, the Repetier log has ...

Re: Is my RAMBo dead?
The hot end was hot when I was trying to test the extruder motor initially.
I checked the fuses with a multimeter and they're all fine.

Is my RAMBo dead?
Just finished a long calibration routine to discover that after all my fiddling with the endstops, etc, my extruder stepper had stopped responding to commands. I tested that it wasn't the stepper by turning off the board, swapping the stepper into the Z-axis socket, and running commands - and it ...

Collet thread pitch
Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone knows what the thread pitch is on the brass collet used to hold the bowden tube in place.
My EZ struder is messed up so I'm milling out a new custom design

Re: Makerware miracle grue slicer
You guys should give it a try as the software is free and tool paths are much more efficient. Just make sure to change all of the initial X141 moves to X100, replace all of the "A" to "E" and replace the start and end codes with the ones for the Rostock. I have done a few 8-10 hr prints with very ...
