ABS very large print--not bad...
I have a Rostock MAX v2 with "ghetto cover". ghetto cover.jpg and the cooling fan for the internals (see above picture--note how the internals are inside the table. Opposite side of fan there is no barrier--air free flows out): fan 1.jpg And I am using MatterControl: presets snapshot.jpg nozzle dia ...

Re: printer continues in "dry run" after hardware failure notice
Yes, that was the problem--a loose connection. So...I printed (still printing, will be finished in an hour) my VERY large print. All was near-perfect last night. But this morning I checked on the progress and see the delamination. So bummed. All seemed to be going so well. I expected a few small ...

Re: printer continues in "dry run" after hardware failure notice
I checked all (snap in) connections and the one with wires that lead to the center of the hotbed seemed to be "loose". I unplugged and plugged back in firmly. Did this with all the connections.
Running it now... we'll see.

Re: printer continues in "dry run" after hardware failure notice
So this morning I ran same print program.
All seemed fine until aprox 15-20 minutes into print.
I got the same message error and the printer went into "dry run".
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanx

Re: printer continues in "dry run" after hardware failure notice
After writing that original inquiry I turned off the puter and printer. Just back home now I fired both up. The printer reads:
I'll keep it on for a while and see if it goes on the fritz.
Thanx again in advance

printer continues in "dry run" after hardware failure notice
I've been away from this for about nine months and trying to get back up to speed with printing but failure with "something"... I turned it on, all seemed good. Loaded a file to print: I am using MatterControl 1.5 (on a Rostock MAX v2). Did all the necessary functions and started. The bed and ...

Ah... I misunderstood your first reply.
So...when I have all set up (as tho' I were to print from the 'puter) I transfer the gcode to the SD card (as I have done) and ALL instructions get transfered over--NOT only the dimensions of the print...
Gotcha! Thanx!

Re: Mouse Ears worked great! Big print--my best results so f
I've actually thought about getting a larger nozzle--what size do you suggest?
So--for the finer details of the standard and abs options I need to print from the 'puter (not the SD card)? Raft, etc...

Which end would you put on the bed (to print)?
Because this is so long I am having second thoughts about printing it as is (with the ears down--obviously). That "end" wall is 3mm thick...the supports would be crazy, huh? But on the other side is a 13mm overhang on one side... Which side would YOU put on the bed to print this? Thanx! which.jpg

Re: Mouse Ears worked great! Big print--my best results so f
Quick question: I've used the SD card in the past... just want to be sure: When I fire up 'puter and printer connection, do all the data I specified (for "Quality" and "Material") transfer immediately to the printer? Therefore, I can simply copy the SLA file from 'puter to SD card, then put the card ...

I suspect I don't need the raft, as well...

Re: Mouse Ears worked great! Big print--my best results so f
Yes, stock .5mm nozzle. Is that 80% of the nozzle diameter? Thanx! PS- I'm not concerned (too much) with aesthetics. The wobbly walls aren't too big a deal--I'm more concerned with design, functionality, etc., of what the end use will be. Of course, along the way I'd like to dial in the finer ...

Happy with results.
The walls and edges are a bit wobbly--is that because I had the "refinement" (Fusion 360) set on "medium"?

I peeled the skirts away for the pics--and unfortunately, they got tossed last night upon clean-up. It is quite large...but I may attempt MM ears.

Re: Big print--please comment/suggest.
I think you are right on the mark, Brazz. Below is pics of my last print. It works for my prototyping purposes (the reason I kept at it) but it is a bummer to see the flaws, to be sure. I ultimately MUST get it right for aesthetic purposes--down the road. 1) I realize that the one problem with the ...

Re: Hotend not reaching temperature
I had set mine to 228. The first print would reach it to start printing, then it would hover around 225, and eventually down as low as 218. MatterHacker guy said to try it (I had redone the calibrations dozens of times) without the PEEK fan turned on--I tried it and the hot end performed beautifully ...

The fan is smooth as a baby's bottom. It is set on LOW...so there isn't a ton of pressure--just a lot of volume. I sealed up everything pretty well--including the "draft holes" for the power supply (in the base plate of printer).

Re: Big print--please comment/suggest.
So bummed..looking at print (still have 15 hours to go) after 10 hours--there's a huge gap in it (same print as the previous big print). Here's a pic of the ABS spool. Upon closer inspection I see ABC is imprinted on spool. Would setting hot end at 235 degrees (up from 230) be the next move ...

Re: Big print--please comment/suggest.
I'll check the belt tension. This is what I was leaning toward after I started another big print and watched closely till my eyes were buggn' out. I was damn sure my leveling was spot on. I use a feeler gauge. My first couple of passes on the glass are beautiful--the extruded material. Very ...

Re: Big print--please comment/suggest. New wrinkle
I'm test printing another go at the big print object. The hot end drags on the printed material on some passes. Very odd. The first few layers came out near perfectly. I was very happy with the consistency of the extruded material, etc. But, as it gets higher in the layers I see (and hear) the tip ...
