10" tall vase

So as my tricklaser arms arrive today so I can hopefully remedy some banding issues etc. I thought id print one last item with the stock setup (minus the 3 layer fans).

So here is a clear PLA vase , default size which is pretty big. It printed very consistently all the way to the top (which i know at height some folks have issues).

I cant tell if the banding in this one is normal or not, it is SOOOO consistent.

let me know what you think. Ill print another after new arms :)

EDIT - THis was done at 210 degrees, 60 degree bed on PEI (perfect) w/ .15mm layer height.

Hope it works out for you. Cost approx $280 for arms and carriages to see if it will work for me - plan on installing them tomorrow.

i didnt do different carriages, just the arms... my carriages seem quite solid... very firm, roll smooth, never a noticeable miss.

Looks awesome! The real test, will it hold water? Mine leaks little droplets out of a few seams and the inside feels like a torture device if you shove your arm in it.

why would the inside look jagged? its just a single walled vase right? did you not use vase mode and had travel across the opening?
Either way, i just filled it, and NO leaks. In fact i was surprised because it only did 2 layers on the bottom.

the bubbles you see are inside, clinging to the plastic

I am in the UK - $135 for the arms and trucks. Approx $40 for postage to UK. Approx $100 for the open builds stuff parts from the UK inc. postage.

Oh, and I must not forget the free clamps you designed and published on Repables :-) That was the cheap bit.

That vase was like the fourth thing I ever printed when I built the v2. I was so excited it was working but had no clue on the settings. The inside of each angle looked like a Chinese torture device with brutal jaggies everywhere. I don't have a pic it on my PB account, It leaked like crazy. I stopped the print early because it started to step over as the print got higher. I now use it as a tool holder next to my printer for calipers/screwdrivers etc.

so the banding in yours is visible too...

does anyone who does not suffer from banding have a pic of the vase they printed? im guessing with the angles its likely most would see some banding.

I just printed this as a pencil holder thus scaled it down about 30% and shortened. Looks smooth but can see some banding inside and out. It is a cool print.

I think the banding you are seeing is aliasing from the low resolution of the stepper axis.
