Hey there!

While I was going through the rather sensitive process of soldering the thermistor leads, the thermistor itself came off the extruder, taking the small lump of silicone with it.

I can plug it back in and be reasonably sure that it will stay in place, but what about the thermal connection? Do I have to apply silicone again? Is it even possible? Have you guys had to deal with this?

I'd put a little dab of silicone on it, and shove it back into the hole. Once you wrap the kapton tape around your hotend, it will help keep the thermistor in place. The high temp rtv is not much of an adhesive anyways.

Agreed. I'm going to make doing the Kapton wrap of the heater block one of the required steps in the assembly. It will help ensure that the thermistor isn't accidentally pulled out of the hot end, resulting in a ruined PEEK section.

Try to clean the little hole with some iso alcohol too before you shove it in. It might have had some grease or moisture in there which let the silicone let go.

Agreed on the Kapton wrap. The peek fan cools the hotend too much, and the layer fan cools it even more so wrap that baby up good.
