LED Ring Snap Mount

This is designed for use with Gene's recommended LED rings. The idea is to stand the ring off from the bottom of the effector so it doesn't touch the universal joints, thereby avoiding any "delta arm blues" type problems and generally providing a cleaner installation. It also secures the wires, so you don't have to worry about the solder joints failing after it's been in use for awhile. You need a few zip ties, but no other fasteners.

The LED mount also has recesses to accommodate my E3D mount, in case you have an E3D mounted under your effector. If it's mounted from the top, it won't matter.

Where are you getting power for the ring? Tapping into the fan leads?

I have a custom harness that feeds 5 and 12V straight from the power supply to the effector. You could run it off the fan, but I'd make sure the MOSFET feeding the fan can handle the extra amperage of all the LEDs. Each one is only a fraction of an amp, but there are over 20 of them.

I am running mine piggybacked off the fan, so far i have not had any problems as have some others. But i have not looked up the numbers.

I would look it up. MOSFETs will eventually fail if you run too much current through them.
