When printing from the PC, I can kill a print in progress through the interface. Lately I've been printing from the SD card. I just had a print start to peel up (too many prints without re-applying hairspray), and I decided to kill the print since it hadn't got very far. I tried hitting the emergency stop button (that is what the lower right button is on the LCD, correct?), but it doesn't do anything. I looked through the LCD menu and didn't see an entry to simply stop. I did see a home towers, so I did that, but it tried to continue from the top position. I just had to hit the power button.

Shouldn't there be a stop command available on the LCD? Am I just not seeing it? And any ideas why the dedicated stop button (if that's what it is) is not working?

Personally, I just toggle the power off for five seconds. The pause/home towers/kill power is ok but I've had the print restart again.

I've found that the print might continue if you toggle the power too quickly - like the Rambo still has the job in memory.

Should be a kill...I thought there used to be a cancel in previous builds of the software. Memory blurry.

The LCD "Stop" button should work, but you have to really bend the plexiglass trim tab way in to get it to press the actual button.

See item 5 in my first post in this thread to see a way to make the button easier to use.

Thanks. I did that, but on the outside, so it still needs to go way in, but with the raised button on the plexi, it's much easier to do. I'll try the Sd card stop command next time I need to...

I would expect a stop command to stop, home the towers, and turn the heat off. I had to go into a separate menu to home the towers, and then I just powered off to kill the heat.

Stop means just that. STOP. If you hit the reset button the LCD panel, it should home the towers and then reboot the RAMBo. However, that can be a bit tricky because of where the bent acrylic hits the button.

This has been my experience as well. When doing an emergency stop or just "stop" from Repetier Host, it takes a while, but eventually does what it should. From the printer itself, it does as you said.. And I've never had any luck with the reset button the LCD, it does nothing for me.

I have an Orion and the reset button does nothing also. I can hear an audible click when the button depresses but it does nothing to stop the print or anything else that I can notice.
The only way I can find to stop a print is to power off the printer. There is no menu item on the LCD to stop or pause the print and I have checked every one of them. I print only with the SD card.

The problem is that it only *sounds* like you're hitting the button. The angle of the acrylic arm impacts the side of the switch and doesn't actually depress it. Pop off the acrylic cover and tap the switch with a pencil eraser. It'll home the machine and reboot the controller.

Interesting, because I too get that solid click when I hit the reset button. Might have to solder in a better switch and mount it external to the acrylic. Emergency stop's should... stop!

I think I am going to drill and tap a set screw into the acrylic button. Then paint the head red, so it looks like an emergency stop.

The problem isn't the switch, it's John's aim.

You are 100% correct. On the Orion, it makes a noise from the acrylic like it pushed the reset button, but it really did not.
I pulled off the front acrylic and put two small pieces of the industrial double sided tape leaving on the plastic covering the piece of
tape that would contact the switch and taped the double pieces of tape to where the acrylic button is. Works now, when I depress the
acrylic, it pushes on the reset switch and the machine resets. Thanks for the original tip.

I just ended up breaking off the acrylic tab so I can press the button directly. Sounds like that is in desperate need of a re-design. I have to say that the main acrylic face was a bad fit... it was bent at the wrong angle, and the bend (bottom edge) was too high, meaning it took quite a bit of work to get it on, and while I did manage, I wasn't able to get the screws all the way in, so there are large gaps where the parts don't fit (the LCD front and side covers). I'm not sure if others have this or if I just got a way out of tolerance cover piece.

I have stopped several jobs recently (Rostock V2), both through the software and the button on the printer. The unit does home for me and turn off the heaters, but my X axis cheapskate starts heading down toward the bed. So I shut it down or hit the 'home' button on the software. Nothing gets damaged, but I'd like to know where the code is that causes that X axis to go rebellious...

If you home the machine and turn it off, does the x cheapskate slowly drift down?

No this is a powered move. Not gravity, if that is what you were thinking.

Yes, that is what I was thinking. If you run a print from the SD card without the Host being on, does the same thing happen?

Tried to hit the stop button with the acrylic and it works on my Orion.
