I am having an issue with both the extruder and heated bed taking a long time to heat up. I am using ABS, so I have the extruder set to 240 and the bed to 110.

The extruder heats up to ~150 in a couple of minutes, but after that it slows down a lot. It has taken it about 20 minutes to heat up from 150 to 195. It got close to 200, but now it seems to have cooled down and leveled out at ~192.

The bed is similar, it heats up to about 75 in about 5 minutes, but then it takes it another 20 minutes to get up to 100. After that it seems to just stay at 100.

What could be causing this particular issue of a slow heat up? I used 16ga wire for the heated bed. For the extruder, it is going through 18ga conductor wire.

Edit: forgot to mention, I just finished putting the kit all together a few days ago. So this is the first time I am heating it up

110 will take a while with 12v, and if you are trying to heat them both at the same time it might be causing this.

if you use hairspray on the glass you should be able to lower the temp of the bed to about 80ish.

did you wrap enough foil around the resistors when you put them into the hot end?

have you checked to ensure you are getting the full 12vdc at the terminals?

I am indeed getting 12vdc at the terminals. I do plan to use hairspray, so I'll lower the bed to 80.

I was heating up both at the same time, so I did not consider that might have been impacting the speed. Without the bed on, it got up to 195 in about 7 minutes. Seems to be plateauing there again though, so the tinfoil wrap may be the culprit. I may not have wrapped it as tightly as I thought I had.

OR your thermistor might not be contacting the metal. can you verify the temp with a meter? you could damage your peek section very easily!

A loose thermistor was the problem. I was poking around at it and it just suddenly dislodged very easily. So I pulled it out and re-did the silicone. It now heats up to 240 in 3 minutes flat. Thankfully nothing was damaged!
