Here's a preview of the sheet layout:

Shows a little bit about what it will look like. Pretty nice and simple.

Wood only kit for those who would like to "upgrade" from an existing MAX... hint-hint; wink-wink.

That is one cool looking printer! Makes me want to sell my RMAX and buy this one. I had my heart set on the Orion but now............

The top plate needs two more spots for mounting extruder drives. :D

That is one fine looking printer. It appears to be very close to the size of the Rostock Max.

I noticed the first Orion has a set of eyes on the front panel. Nice touch!.
You couldn't resist putting eyes on the cheapskates of the new model.

Just looking at the photos, I can see a reduced melamine part count, taller build volume and a stiffer top-end design.

Just by eyeballing the slot cuts in the base, I can tell it'll be a damn sight easier to assemble. There's not a ton of 1" wide supports to get lined up. It looks like access to the screws that hold the towers has been improved and that will help the build as well.

It looks like they're using the same belt "claw" that is used in the Orion, which will make threading & binding the belts an easier task.

The reduction of the "back" bearing in the Cheapskates will make the process of getting the proper "grip" on the t-slot more easily accomplished.

I like the new changes.

Looks like it will really help when assembling and column twist....
I've been thinking of another rostock... When is it scheduled for release??

Can I get a 20" high print area with it :D

In for Upgrade-from-ORION (BYOE?) kit!
I'd be *VERY* interested in that.

Also looks like the 2nd ORION and the new "R3" printer have the on/off switch in the spot where I put it on my ORION:

:ugeek:

Really nice to see that SeeMeCNC takes inspiration from community ideas!

Looks like the skates cannot travel all the way to the top. The "bracket" holding onto the towers extends below the top plate.

Overall build size looks to be pretty close to the same.

In2str, yep, the switch is now top mounted, so the LCD can be removed/installed without having to demo e the power switch, plus, we changed to a nicer rocker style with spade connectors for the switch connection. As for the build size, as it stands the prototype has appx. 16" in z, same 11" dia. as max for the x/y. The z may change as the assembled shipping size is over the max for international with Usps shipping. Booooo. As a good majority of our machines go overseas, we are looking at alternative arrangements for those guys.

The machine is based on the feedback of all of you guys, and wanting an assembled version of the Rostock MAX. I admit, I never thought the build volume was nearly as big a deal as it has been. Assembled was more important I thought than build volume. I cab get it wring once in a while I guess :-).

So as it stands, it should be available in the next two weeks. Yes, kits AND assembled, and we will reg. look at doing a frame only wood parts kit for all you romaxers.

The top dual plate makes it much sturdier and stiffer. The elimination of the 5th bearing makes it easier, it was never needed really, but made sense on paper. The whole machine has a much more finished look than romax, not as nerd-chic tho haha.

Assembled will run more than an Orion, not sure how much yet. Kits are aiming to be same as romax.

Keep posting your guys feedback. It's what makes us better, and we couldn't do it without all of you guys and gals.

For the assembled shipping height being too high, couldn't you just slide the whole top plate down, then give them a gauge stick to put in there to reset the height when they slide it back up? Oh and give them a 20" z...LOL. I have an 18" long part I would like to .print in one piece...

I can't help but wonder what the shipping costs are on the assembled printer.
Even within the continental United States those costs must be huge.

Looks Phenominal!; I will have to say, if only to protect my state of mind, I don't regret getting the RoMax a mere month ago.

tweaking it tweaks my brain. at my age, it is a good thing.
