Strings blobs and a jammed extruder

Sometime last night, the filament tube popped off and metres of filament spilled out. Currently it's jammed, awaiting a fix, but I was able to see the majority of the print done. Even without the filament mess up, it's got some issues.

This is sort of a continuation from this thread:

Where i tried larger retract length, slightly more z lift, as well as randomize starting points.

Look upon my chaos and weep!

Setup: Glow ABS. 230 hot end temp. 60 bed temp. speed 50 on most things (had it on 30 earlier). 10mm retract. 0.3 z lift height on retract. 100% infill. Rostock Max (repetier 0.8, slic3r)

Did z-lift help? I've had mixed results with it. It seems to make blobs worse at time because of the time it takes to lift and drop.

I don't think the z lift helped much. Perhaps I need to go larger (I only went from .2 to .3 lift) ... I will try this on the next attempt.

I unjammed the extruder... It was the aluminium threaded cylinder which holds the filament tube locking thingy in place. I rewound the filament and forgot to cut off the melted end, which promptly jammed in there.
Cool tip: Freeze that aluminium block and the filament was pretty easy to pop right out.
