i purchased some .08in thick http://www.lowes.com/pd_11230-1638-11G0 ... facetInfo= from lowes. 3 sheets should be enough to surround the RMax. Ill post the files once i finish.

That looks to be one of the best enclosures I have seen for the RMax.
Great idea you came up with and you chose materials that are not that expensive, good job!
I am looking forward to the finished product.
I bet you don't have a problem finding the knob for your LCD.

Nice, it's a step up from using a cardboard box lined with tin foil... like I use.

now im working on a fixture that will slide down the ends and hold it nice and tight..... Also i will design some hinges for a door on the front end

my wife booted the printer out of the upstairs office.. now i reside in the unfinished basement.. that gets cold.. and drafty... and has spiders (I'm sure)

i have 27" from top to bottom, so i have been printing these out 9" at a time.

Looking better and better.

i now regret doing this with the .25 nozzle >.< im almost done printing parts so its too late to switch

Is there a film on the panels? They don't look clear, that's why I'm asking.
It's still the best looking enclosure that I have seen. If you had the time to print the parts this would make a great kit minus
the panels. The user could buy the panels locally. The problem is there are so many pieces and so much time to print them
that it may not be cost effective.

yea i wont pull the film off until im done with drilling holes. with a .7 or .6 nozzle this would have taken 1/3 of the time

Can't wait until this is finished, it looks fantastic and I'm going to do this to my RMax when I'm done assembling it.

Has anybody tested with comparisons of an enclosure vs without? Too, are you planning on just using the heat generated by the process, or adding another source of heat for further control? Do you plan of controlling this with a closed loop venting system?

I am curious, cause once I am complete in my built, I have been considering enclosing it.

My thought is to use an 18" Sono-Tube. Probably will have to modify it some by notching out where the skate/trucks are (not sure, there is plenty of room for the platform, but have not gotten to building the trucks to see how much/or not room there is.

Too, probably would have to heat up it by itself to burn out some of that wax that is in it.

Since it is going in a cool, drafty basement I think the goal is to eliminate the drafts and create a mini-environment that helps hold the heat in rather than having it escape into the
basement.

Are you going to do anything to heat the space above ambient or is this just something to keep the drafts away in your case?

Very very nice work by the way. You might have mentioned it, but, what material did you print the pieces out of?

I used that 25dollar radio Shack pla... the entire roll. The joints were printed hollow. Use the biggest nozzle you can and you can probably have this printed in a weekend.

would you mind posting all of the solidworks files? I'd like to make a few mods to your lovely design

here ya go! One thing i would change is, per drilled screw holes in the top and bottom holders. Because i didn't the exact location i omitted these and regrettably it is not as ridged as it could be. Also, some of the parts have multiple solid bodies that will need to be exported into new parts before .stl is created.
