Print Quality ABS 0.1mm

Good Morning folks.

After some iterations i finally need help. Ok this is the problem:

I try to print at 0.1mm with an ABS balck 1.75m. I do the calibration for the Extrusion Multiplier, a nice first layer... and i print the part on the picture A.

But let me show you my calibration square on picture B. I don't understand really whats happend.
This is how i print :

- 0.1mm resolution
- head at 230 C
- bed at 110 C

First layer:
- height 0.3mm
- width 1 mm
- top/bottom solid layer 6 (count)
- 2 perimeters

- 20% infill
- default speed 40 mm/s
- 35mm/s for perimeters

thanks for your help.

top/bottom solid layer 6 (count) and 20 % infill that is the problem.

when I print at 0.1 mm with 20 % infill I use min 8 layers at the top of the infill

Ok, but about the deformation... ? Maybe its overheat ?

Try turning on your layer fan to 15%. I find when printing small parts, residual heat builds up under the print head, because it never moves away. Running the fan at 15% gives me better results.

I wouldn't run my bed that hot, it's probably why you ave such a pronounced elephants foot, you can print most ABS parts with a bed temperature of 80C.

0.1mm is pushing it for ABS from a 0.5mm Nozzle,
When plastic is extruded it's stretched as it leaves the nozzle, as the layer height drops extruded volume decreases and at some point it will just snap while trying to cover the gaps in the infill.
You have a couple of things you can do, print slower, use a layer width wider than the nozzle (this increases the extruded volume), use more infill so it doesn't have to stretch so far.

Oh boy,

Very interesting information here and i learned a lot today.

So, I change the number of top solid layer 6=ยป8.
I decreased the bed temperature at 80 C
I decreased the print speed to 20 mm/s and 15 mm/s for the perimeters. (Maybe its too much..)
And i used the layer fan a little (15%)

You know why ? one picture is worth a thousand words :

Hi,

I use my old topic for a question about the outside surface. Its always ABS with 0.2mm ( but i have the same pattern)

what causes these small vibrations ? I have changed the number of perimeters, the overlap, but no change really.

Looks like segmentation moire. Even some of the commercial-grade printers have it. On the Rostock it comes from the fact that the delta kinematics are being calculated in segments. Most who have upgraded to Duet electronics (which do the full delta kinematics calculations without segmentation) have reported it goes away.

Mmh,
But not always, check the two parts on the back. One section the outside shell have no pattern.
