Here's the direct link to the example of printing with the specifically design dampers for stepper motors from slosyn. I scavenged mine from old recycled scanners/photocopiers/misc equipment that made use of stepper motors for precision operations. They are not that hard to find if you like to take things apart.
Here is an example of before while pushing the machine for speed.

Did the upgrade today with 3/32" (2.4mm) cork sheet from Michael's (craft supplies) for $3.49... Awesome! Now the Fan on my 24V Onyx power supply is way too loud!

I just did this upgrade with a sheet of 6.18mm thick cork I found. It didn't reduce the sound as much as I thought it would, but it did cut off the higher frequencies like a low pass filter. I don't know if it was worth it because it took about 4 hours to install the cork on all four stepper motors, and now I can hear the extruder gears squeak even more.

I had a similar problem with Steve's extruder (pre-EZStruder) after adding the gaskets.
Some ways to fix it are to turn down the retract speed and add grease/lubricant.

My mechanic gave me a little of the red stuff, not sure what it's made of, but it works. I think it's for packing bearings.
