If you're using the specs I give in the manual, try dialing the speed slider back to about 70% and see how that works.

So, tweaked the settings a bit and printed another 2 test cubes tonight. Still no layer fan, but the results are definitely getting better.

I see 3 main problems (there are probably more).

A) Bridging between the columns
B) The columns are bulging beyond the width of the cube
C) The top solid layers are not always connecting to the perimeter

Progress is from left to right in the pictures...

Test Cube #1: Default setup as defined in build manual
Test Cube #2: Default setup with Feedrate slider adjusted to 70 and Retraction length = 6mm
Test Cube #3: Default setup except Gap fill = 20, Bridge flow ratio = 0.9, Retraction length = 7mm, and Feedrate slider at 60

So I have a layer fan on the way (and some black ABS as well) , but in the mean time is there anything else I can do to make my cubes look any better? Or is where I'm at as good as its going to get?

The one on the right looks pretty good. One thing you could try to see if it is the layer fan that is the issue... Print two cubes at the same time. That will give each cube time to cool before the next layer.

Two cubes next to each other is a good idea. I'll give that a try.

Printing two side by side today before leaving for work...we'll see how they turn out.

Also, thought it was cool that by the time this print is complete I will have my first 24 hours on the machine :D.

Thanks.

Here are the results of two cubes next to each other with no layer fan. Everything seems good to me except bridging is still an issue and the parts are wanting to warp off the bed (could 60C be too hot for the heated bed w/o layer fan).

I also had a 40mm fan laying around so I decided to make MSURunner's fan shroud and a fan adapter plate. This was my first print using supports for overhangs, so hopefully my setting were all right. All I know is it looks really cool, but is going to be some work cleaning it up.

If you flip that part around in the slicer, you probably won't need supports.

I'll have to play with that. It definitely looks like it can be oriented to eliminate the majority of the supports though.

This one works as well: http://repables.com/r/142/

Print in the orientation as shown installed. No support needed at all.
