What is your intended use or are they just spares?

In variation, I'm sitting around waiting for my Chimera to show up. :)

I was picking up more filament over at the local distributor yesterday and the owner was there getting ready for CES. Showed me one of their new printers (Zorro or something like that) and when I mentioned having the Chimera on order he gave his opinion of dual head printers. He didn't seem to think they were worth the effort. Didn't like most of the more exotic filaments either.

Oh well, guess I'll have to "make do" with "only" a Max v2 and the Chimera...making decent money off sales. :)

I'd find a different distributor to give my money to! Life is to short to waste it with someone who doesn't get it! His comment about filament is tantamount to the comments back in the late 70s that computers "will never need more than a megabyte of memory".

My 4 extruder Kraken has been fine The limitation is not in the hardware, it's in the slicer. There are many ways to prime a pump (metaphor chosen on purpose!) to deal with multiple extruders. "Not worth the effort" really means "I don't have a true need" or "I'm too lazy to get involved" in my (humble) opinion.

I'm printing two mini Kossels right now, one is going to be home to a Chimera and the other to a Cyclops. I can't wait to test the wazoo out of them.

I just finished getting all the wires through the uprights, bit harder than normal since I ran wires for two hot ends, two thermistors, the normal two fans, and 12V for LED lighting. Had to break out the wire lube.

Anyway, I see there's various threads on how to wire the Rambo for dual heads. Is there a definitive thread for wiring and firmware changes for the latest factory software?

I ordered the twin pack that lets you tinker with both styles (ships later this quarter) so I have time to make a different printer. My Rostock Max v2 is printing parts for the Prusa i3 design. Thanks to Seemecnc for selling parts to us tinkers. I have a E3D v6 on my MAX v2 and just didn't want to try to get more wires up those towers for the second extruder, hot end, and thermistor. It looks too good to consider running some wires outside of the unit, for now.

I am planning to run my new wires up the joint seam of my enclosure. I designed each seam to both seal out drafts and allow a nice hollow space for wires to run without messing with the towers or running on the outside of the towers. Even allows me to run LEDs much higher on the inside face of the uprights in a groove just for them.

2 questions, in case someone knows... (maybe someone from E3D has the answers ?)

1/
Did anyone try to use the cyclop on a kraken body ?

2/
The Volcano is said to be kraken compatible, but are 4 volcanoes needed, or one can do, in order to print with 4 heads ?

What would you guys think of a kraken body mounted with a cyclop, and one or 2 volcanoes ?
The cyclop would provide great color switching for the perimeters, and volcano fast infill, and/or support... Is it that crazy ?

From my understanding the Volcano is much taller than the other heater blocks so I do not think it can be mixed with another heater block as the heights are too far off. At least that is my understanding.

Cyclops has a very different body - it routes 2 filaments into a single nozzle - so you can't put it on a Kraken body. My Cyclops prototype is on its way, I hope to get it this week.

Anyone have any idea of when the Chimera's will ship?

From the pictures, it does not look so different. What I call the body is the cooling part.
The 2 filaments just pass through the body to reach the mixing head.

In my opinion, it could have worked. However, by looking at the engineering drawings, I see that the heat breaks are 18mm away on the cyclops, when they are 20mm away on the kraken.
I am just disappointed.

I think the same from what I see.

Ok, too bad... Anyway, I hope it gives ideas to Josh and Sajay, if they don't have them already.

Did you get the Chimera too or only Cyclops?

No, I did not order a Chimera as I already have a Kraken. The Cyclops is very experimental so we'll see how it evolves.

I have a Buda that I plan to print a TAZ for, a 3mm E3d V5 that I'm going to put back onto my Ultimaker when I get the time/money. I also have the 1.75 Merlin thats waiting for when I can get my Rostock Mini (or maybe a Mini Kossel) going again. I have the 2 Picos I ordered. Honestly I don't really like them very much at all. I had mixed success with the 3mm one, but I managed to jam Nylon if I wasn't very careful, and I had to run it at 295C for a few prints in Nylon. I guess it adds up to 5 in actuality.

I ordered direct from E3D UK, even though I'm in the US. I figured I'd get it sooner, looks like I was right.

E3D boxed up my shipment today, the first of the production batch. Some of the beta batch slipped out to folks like rpress, but formally the first shipments from both E3D and Filastruder are going out tomorrow.

Nothing on my Cyclops/Chimera (not that it matters because I haven't finished upgrading to dual extruders yet anyway)...BUT it looks like my Volcano kit will be here tomorrow. Guess what this guy is going to be doing this weekend!

What hardware do the CHIMERA and CYCLOPS come with? There is a pic here:http://e3d-online.com/Chimera but does it come with any sort of mounting hardware or do I need to make a trip to the hardware store? Mine arrives Monday :)

-by mounting hardware, I mean screws, not platform attachments of course
