Repetier-Host Mac annoyances

Post by kbob »

I am using Repetier-Host on a Mac. When I launch it, the 3D view always shows the camera centered on a point somewhere in the northwest region of the bed. When I load an STL file or center a part, it always centers on the point (40, 40) instead of the origin. So I always have to manually center parts.
Right of center, like the WSJ.
Right of center, like the WSJ.
Is there a setting somewhere to change the bed center point?

Thanks.

Version info.
  • Repetier-Host Mac 0.56 (current stable release)
  • Mac OS X 10.8.4 "Mountain Lion"
  • RepetierMAX firmware, 6683493 (May 1, 2013), not that it's related.

I can answer my own question now.

In Printer Settings, in the Dimension panel, there is a selector for Printer Type. That should be set to Delta Printer with Cylindric Print Shape. But Repetier Host uses the Cartesian printer's size to calculate the default viewport for the 3D views.

So, to fix it, open that pane, temporarily select Classic Printer, fill in the Width, Depth, Front, and Left, then switch the Printer Type back to Delta. I found that leaving Print Area Height at 100mm gives a more useful viewport for the small objects I usually print, so I left that at 100.

Objects are correctly centered on the bed now, too.
Temporarily select Classic Printer, then set these.
Temporarily select Classic Printer, then set these.
Then switch back to Delta and hit OK.
Then switch back to Delta and hit OK.
Now this is the default viewport.
Now this is the default viewport.

Thank you for posting this Kbob, I was getting annoyed with having to manually center and position things in repetier because of this issue.

I'm pretty late to the game here, but THANKS! I've been annoyed by that for quite some time.
