Hello from Ventura CA

Post by Island3 »

Hi folks. I'm assembling a Rostock MAx, and have just completed install of the cheapskates on the towers, in accordance with the 2nd edition manual. When I tighten the 5th roller (on the axle support) to adjust bearing tension, enough to eliminate rotation motion along the cyan arrow axis, the carriage becomes too tight on the extrusion. Is this normal? When I try to back off the bearing tension, the unwanted motion immediately returns.

Can you post a photo?

Also, I know this is tedious but how about getting the four set, tight but smoothly moving and then put on the 5th.

Hi John, thanks for the suggestion. I played around with different settings, but realized that when I eventually install the delta and extruder, there will be a few pounds of force on the skates towards the center of the printer. So, when I tried pushing in a little on the skates while moving them up and down, I got very smooth operation; I may be worried for nothing. Also, I still hadn't adjusted the e-cams. When I try those the motion smoothes out a lot too.

I'll chime in again once I get further along with the assembly, with pictures. Thanks again brother.
